Clean (no animal waste, unsprayed,) bagged leaves wanted for garden compost. Will pick up. Thank you.

You might have better luck if “you” go and rack them up instead of asking for them bagged up already…just saying.

beanbag, Katherine has asked for bagged leaves here in the past and has been successful in getting some. Although she is able to pick up bagged leaves, I believe she may have some difficulty in bagging them up herself.

MIWS is anything but high and mighty.

Rather, he is one of the most sincere, unassuming and down-to-earth people I’ve met through the blog.

His intentions are nothing but sincere.

    Hi Katherine,

My side-yard collects leaves from as far away as Bothel and Bonnie Lake, I’d be happy to set some aside for you.

Send me an email so I can write when they’re ready to be picked-up.

I’ll be using your standard-issue tall, brown paper bags, so if you’re able to leave one or two when you visit that’d be helpful. If not, no biggie.

    Admiral & 46th area.

    Hi Katherine,
I have 10 bags of bagged leaves that I set out to be picked up on Monday morning and I just noticed that they’re still there in the alley. You are welcome to them – the bags are wet, but seem to be holding up well. They are in the alley between California Avenue and 44th Avenue, between Andover and Charlestown. East side of the alley, closer to the Charlestown end. Please help yourself to them.

Ladyblahblah, got the leaves. Thank you.

sbre, I do have some bags I’d be happy to leave for you. They may be a little dusty. :-) Let me know when you have leaves ready.

beanbag, your post made me smile. I remember a couple of times I did go up to people and ask to rake their yards. Their faces were a picture. That was years ago when I was young and strong. I’m now 74 and in poor health. What usually happens is that someone on the blog tells me, “I have bags of clean leaves at X place. If you get there before the truck, you’re welcome to them.” They get rid of their leaves either way, the yard waste people are saved picking them up, and my garden is more fertile next summer. Everybody wins.

I second grog’s evaluation of miws. Mike is a kind man and can be very witty in his posts.

    Katherine & MIWS,
I would like to apologize to you both for my inconsiderate reply, I sometimes write before thinking and this was one of those times and I am sorry.

bean.bag., I know you’ve already apologized so this post is rather pointless BUT I read this yesterday and it bothered me enough to where I just hunted around for 10 minutes to find this thread again and respond.

It is apparent to me that you have never met Mike In West Seattle (MIWS). He is far from high and mighty. He is a great guy and if you ever get a chance to know him you will find it hard to disagree. The internet is a great invention but it is not very good at revealing the true character or motives of anyone that posts. Subtle humor or sarcasm can easily be misconstrued.

With that being said, it’s rare that someone would actually retract a statement and accept responsibility for it. My hat is off to you, bean.bag. – and to the other folks that defended MIWS. I am proud to be part of this community.

@2muchwhine…it seems that your words to what you have just said to beanbag are pretty much what beanbag had done to Katherine and MIWS. “The internet is a great invention but it is not very good at revealing the true character or motives of anyone that posts. Subtle humor or sarcasm can easily be misconstrued”
But yes you then acknowledged beanbags apology…kind of like scolding a child for doing something wrong and then the next minute giving them a hug.!!!

Thanks JaniceH. You are entitled to your opinion just like we all are. Thanks so much for sharing it. I just wanted to stick up for a person that I met through the blog and who has never given me ANY reason to doubt his sincerity or motives. A previous post had mentioned MIWS’ wit and I thought that perhaps the inability for posts to portray sarcasm or subtlety was an explanation for why he could be perceived as “high and mighty.” And, you are absolutely right! If my young kid runs into traffic I am undoubtedly going to pull her to safety, give her a scolding and then give her a big hug to let her know how important she is to me and how much I love her and want her to be safe. I don’t quite equate a comment on a thread about leaves to scolding then praising a child but you are certainly welcome to do so. This is probably one of those times I should have typed this out and just deleted it (I do that a lot) but I’m going to hit “Submit” instead. . . . .

what’s wrong with giving a child a hug after reprimanding and teaching them what’s right and wrong about what they did? They still deserve love.

this deserves to go back to the top of the list. Katherine still needs leaves. There are a lot of them down out there right now. Can anyone gather up some and take them to her? Speaking from experience, it’s a bitch not being able to do things like this on our own. So please be kind :) This is a great close, caring community…can we help her out?
