JT & JimmyG, so funny. That’s my childhood in Burien. Actually, I’ve been hanging out in WS since ’84 when I started dating my boyfriend..now my husband. Of course I’d move from Burien to West Seattle!

Aw, Jo, that’s so sweet of you to offer. :-)

I think I have some in the cupboard somewhere, and my mom will stop by later…I’d be embarrassed to meet WSBers with greasy hair and sweats…I really do practice regular hygiene!;-)

Sorry about your chronic fatigue, too…how frustrating…

My bosses recently asked me what precisely stressed me or set me off. I realized I have two big triggers: BS/lies and lack of respect. I agree that Hillary has had to deal with both. And increasingly so is Obama. It’s a shame, because there are important real issues that we are facing right now, that don’t get real analysis.

Lord I hate being sick—and bored and cooped up as well. What is with daytime TV? Do they deliberately program it to be so boring that sick people feel compelled to go back to work? :-)

This does not have to do with the superdelegates…but found to funny (really not trying to bash Clinton…but is humerous) and had to post it somewhere…

a quick refresher course lest we forget what has happened to many ‘friends’ of the Clintons .

1-James McDougal – Clinton’s convicted Whitewater partner died of an apparent heart attack, while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr’s investigation.

4 – Ron Brown – Secretary of Commerce and former DNC Chairman. Reported to have died by impact in a plane crash. A pathologist close to the investigation reported that there was a hole in the top of Brown’s skull resembling a gunshot wound. At the time of his death Brown was being investigated, and spoke publicly of his willingness to cut a deal with prosecutors. The rest of the people on the plane also died. A few days later the air Traffic controller commited suicide.

Ed Willey died on the same day his wife Kathleen Willey claimed Bill Clinton groped her in the oval office in the White House . Ed Willey was involved in several Clinton fund raising events.

8 -Jerry Parks -Head of Clinton’s gubernatorial security team in Little Rock . Gunned down in his car at a deserted intersection outside Little Rock. Park’s son said his father was building a dossier on Clinton. He allegedly threatened to reveal this information. After he died the files were mysteriously removed from his house.

9 -James Bunch – Died from a gunshot suicide. It was reported that he had a ‘Black Book’ of people which contained names of influential people who

11 -Kathy Ferguson- Ex-wife of Arkansas Trooper Danny Ferguson, was found dead in May 1994, in her living room with a gunshot to her head. It was ruled a suicide even though there were several packed suitcases, as if she were going somewhere. Danny Ferguson was a co-defendant along with Bill Clinton in the Paula Jones lawsuit. Kathy Ferguson was a possible corroborating witness for Paula Jones.

12 -Bill Shelton – Arkansas State Trooper and fiancee of Kathy Ferguson. Critical of the suicide ruling of his fiancee, he was found dead in June, 1994 of a gunshot wound also ruled a suicide at the grave site of his fiancee.

13 -Gandy Baugh – Attorney for Clinton’s friend Dan Lassater, died by jumping out a window of a tall building January, 1994. His client was a convicted drug distributor.

20 -Barbara Wise – Commerce Department staffer. Worked closely with Ron Brown and John Huang. Cause of death unknown. Died November 29, 1996. Her bruised, nude body was found locked in her office at the Department of Commerce.

21 -Charles Meissner -Assistant Secretary of Commerce who gave John Huang special security clearance, died shortly thereafter in a small plane crash.

22 -Dr. Stanley Heard – Chairman of the National Chiropractic Health Care Advisory Committee died with his attorney Steve Dickson in a small plane crash. Dr. Heard, in addition to serving on Clinton’s advisory council personally treated Clinton’s mother, stepfather and brother.

23 -Barry Seal -Drug running TWA pilot out of Mena Arkansas , death was no accident.

26 – Hershell Friday – Attorney and Clinton fund raiser died March 1, 1994 when his plane exploded.

27 -Kevin Ives & Don Henry – Known as ‘The boys on the track’ case. Reports say the boys may have stumbled upon the Mena Arkansas airport drug operation. You can reserve a picnic shelter at Lincoln Park -just go to the Parks & Rec website for the info. It’s a small fee but you are guaranteed the spot. You can bring a moonbounce type of thing, too – I’ve seen lots of kid parties at the shelter near the south end playground. The only problem might be the “adult beverages” – I don’t think you’re allowed to bring alcohol into the parks, but maybe if you arrange for a special license it is OK? Something to check out.

RainyDay, those are awesome ideas. Unfortunately the playgroup that was posted is mostly little kids, like 1,2,3 years old. It’s too bad somebody couldn’t start an older kids playgroup. I’ll start one when my daughter gets that age but nobody has one yet.

We live in a city. Dog ownership is a privilege not a right.

Dogs may take the place of children in some peoples lives, and both can be nearly wild in some situations.

I have had both gentle and territorial dogs and they both follow the rules of the pack and (sometimes)their training.

Off leash is always a gamble. A small dog in some ways can be more aggressive than many large breeds. Terriers are one of the few breeds bred to attack and kill prey in addition to the basic dog instinct. Friendly dogs can do damage as well to those who are afraid or not prepared. (My friendly husky, on a leash, knocked a kid off a skateboard during greeting behavior and he almost fell through a plate glass window.)

Those with large breeds, especially territorial breeds may be unprepared for the changes these dogs will exhibit in stressful situations. Never take a dog to a fireworks display unless you outweigh it and have pinch, choke or muzzle collars. Some dogs do not require the stress level of a fireworks display to become irrational.

Here in Highpoint, the majority of dog owners are responsible, but several do not seem to get the idea that poo should be picked up. The low income residents have almost no dogs. This is people who spent 400k on a condo/townhouse and yet feel the landscaping is provided for their pets convenience alone.

Off leash areas are a city service, paid for with tax dollars and are located throughout the city. They may not be convenient to all but they are accessible to everyone.

On the other hand, people who take toddlers to the off leash area are in my opinion, just as irresponsible as dog owners who let unleashed dogs run in playgrounds and parks.

I hate to say this but it’s actually not “so easy” to get to West Crest. It’s way harder to find a dog park in this area than a playground yet we are a dog-owning area! I actually think we’ve hit a really important topic here for our community that actually affects everyone. For all of us dog-lovers and to all of you dog-haters reading this: we need a dog park and we’ll all be happy!!

No one mentions my weight. But it could be because I am male and 6’4″.

Some seem to think it is ok to comment on a womans weight that would never comment on a mans.

I think life should be more like tv. I think all of life’s problems ought to be solved in 30 minutes with simple homilies, don’t you? I think weight and oral hygiene ought to be our biggest concerns. I think we should all have powerful, high-paying jobs, and everyone should drive fancy sports cars. All our desires should be instantly gratified. Women should always wear tight clothes, and men should carry powerful handguns. Life overall should be more glamorous, thrill-packed, and filled with applause, don’t you think?

    house.. Newt???

well, Newt would tell you to elect any republican… that’s what he says.

he also says he is for real change…

i followed some of those links. he would like our govt to follow the common sense solutions that ‘business that works” has followed… things like outsourcing? privatization? denying health care? (because that sure is working financially for the health industry).

To give him his due, he does use the word innovation when speaking of business that works… but i have to suspect he is using that in the context of innovative ways to earn profit.. rather than, innovative ways to manufacture… or perhaps he is using both definitions together. (that would explain outsourcing.)

he wants to close schools that don’t graduate a high enough percentage of their seniors…

and what would he replace them with for those who can’t afford private education?

He doesn’t mention what he would do with those who are failed by our system now. Nor does he mention those who do graduate from those high schools. where would they go? will he discard them along with the failures?

and in the same thread he says …to paraphrase… not like unions who are only concerned with paychecks.

paychecks translates into jobs. So it seems Newt does not prioritize American jobs… at least not for those who don’t have an extensive education.

doesn’t sound like change to me.. just the progression of what has already been done and isn’t working.

and… it isn’t ok that Clinton let an intern of legal age give him a blowjob… but it is ok for Newt to do much more… because he married her? talk about a double standard.

the wife who forgave Clinton and maintained her home has a dysfunctional family, while the man who dumps his wife for a younger model is progressive?

    Don’t think so… Not a slam.. just a comment.

I could care less about anyone’s sexual life as long as it doesn’t set them up for blackmail (which Clinton’s did… she kept the dress), but i do care about policies that would simply move more govt money into the hands of big business and would deny those citizens who need it most (our underprivileged children) the assistance they require to become useful citizens.

But.. if you are outsourcing American jobs, you don’t really need to educate those citizens, do you?

And that i think is at the bottom of where i see a fracture between fiscally conservative democrats and fiscally conservative republicans…

it is clear to me that fiscally conservative republicans see no need to invest in resources (i would call them people) they don’t need.

However, i would ask.. what quality of life will you have when the haves are in such a minority that they can only live safely in gated communities and only move about safely in armored vehicles with bodyguards? The true haves do that now while the rest of America wishes they could.

Works now, but what happens when those disenfranchised people get angry? sounds like life in Iraq to me.

and if you profiteer without planning… again.. like Iraq to me.

And house, are you safely one of the haves or in the next group to be systematically looted? Because this can only be maintained with systematic looting and there is nothing more to be gotten out of the true middle class.. so upper middle is next. What about all those investments that sit in volatile.. and subject to profit taking.. stocks? Without regulation, what protects you?

something to think about before you too become redundant.

i just realized this could be taken as highly inflammatory and as using jan to set you up and i am sure that wasn’t her intention … nor is it mine.

I am asking the same kind of questions i asked of the biggies from the students for a democratic society in my youth… when they got angry… what is the logical progression of your actions and is that really what you want?

they were only focused on the short term… as i believe Newt’s rhetoric does… as i believe the rhetoric of the conservative republicans does.

so.. comments made…questions asked house… and i meant them only in the least inflammatory way i could ask them.

i encourage other voices to join house. i know there are other republicans out there:) and though we may not change one another’s minds, we will come to a better understanding of differences… and where we are not so different… that could lead to true progress.

you have to start somewhere you know:) why not start at home.

your last post would have been great without the first paragraph lambasting anyone thoughtless enough to have another opinion and voice it somewhere where you could actually see it.

for pete’s sakes.. this is the weather. It’s supposed to be a safe topic in any culture. And this is supposed to be a safe place to voice any opinion… without being trashed for it.

JimmyG…I love good discourse. But…you’re not helping anything here by claiming someone is or isn’t someone. I think that being part of the problem isn’t the answer, and you may end up driving more people away than you anticipated here. My opinion…we are all adults here. If we all felt the same way about things, life would be extremely boring indeed. That’s true in politics, in religion, in world views. So…take the high road and let’s get back to discussing ( and disagreeing on) some of the issues here.

OK..I’m stepping off my soapbox now :)

Some community centers have “indoor playground” in the gym for ages 5 and younger. They have a variety of different toys and play equipment available at each center. A parent or responsible caregiver 18 or older must be present at all times. It’s drop-in, $2 per visit per child.

    Delridge Community Center

    T/W/Th 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

    Fri 12:30 – 2 p.m. and 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.

    High Point Community Center

    Th 4 – 6 p.m.

    Fri Noon – 2 p.m.

    South Park Community Center

    M – F 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

JimmyG is correct. The circumference of a traffic circle is too small for some vehicles (like trucks and fire engines) to go around, so turning left in in front is permitted, when safe. But you’ll find that out somewhere, I’m sure.

What wordpress mods are in use. Are they different for the comments on the main page and the forum? I feel it is impolite to run a script on your host that searches for the php info file. I also assume you have disabled it :)

Have you ever used a tinyMCE plugin with WP? or the wysiwyg upgrade? There are 1400 plugins currently and some are used for posting and editing on other WP sites as well as drupal and scoop.

I understand the reasons and wisdom of limiting code input and filtering code down to a minimum for security reasons as well as estethics, but figuring out what works where is by trial and error and should not be the norm for your average user.

cinnamon… jimmyG has a point.. you were serious, weren’t you jimmy;-)

you should let your children be alone in public when you feel they are ready to handle situations that make them uncomfortable in public. i don’t think there is a set age for that.

children will take their cue from you… so if you show them that people in the greater world often behave in ways that aren’t appropriate in your home and that the best way to deal with those people is to ignore them, they will be ready to walk alone sooner rather than later.

but, you knew that, didn’t you?

I am not going to take sides here…but…maybe there’s something going on in this guy’s personal life that was affecting him? In his marriage? In his kid’s lives? If he has kids, imagine not being able to support them now? Swear words happen…if you don’t like them, then you complain. That’s your choice and your right.Whoever his boss was on this job should have been contacted first(actually, he should have been on top of it before you were ever involved)…did you think about that? There must have been a supervisor there. They could have nipped it in the bud right then, and not sent this man into the unemployment world. This is not a perfect world, and some of the people that your children run into will undoubtably do things that affect them one way or another. How you raise them in your home makes the difference.

Denigrating another person on here because they disagree with you isn’t exactly good form. We all have our opinions…that’s what makes this forum so great. I saw no anger in JimmyG’s disagreement with what you did….just another way of looking at things….no need to call him a jerk…

Thanks for all your suggestions!! We would love for any of her classmates to come over to play, but we can’t because they need parental permission and without a way to contact the parent it can’t happen! Again, most of the parents of children at Roxhill work and whenever I drop off or pick up our daughter I make a point of going in the school and on the playground and still I don’t see 1 parent, all the kids must take the school bus home.

When I asked the front desk for a class list all I got were the first and last names of the kids, no email or phone number as they don’t give out that information.

From what our daughter is telling me is that most of the kids take the school bus to and from school and there are alot of latch-key kids with no adult supervision at home when they get home.

Our daughter takes swimming and has taken karate and dance in the past.

As for field trips, per the teacher most parents are at work and I have already been with the kids on 2 field trips and there was only one other parent and she didn’t speak English well.

We aren’t sure if the kids in her class have transporation to events and might be embarassed to tell us they don’t have a car.
