I would like to have your recommendation for a personal trainer at either the West Seattle or Fauntleroy YMCA. I am a 70 year old woman and recently found out that I have bone thinning that is getting worse. I’d like to learn how to do some weight lifting to help reverse this, if possible. Does anyone know of a trainer that would be helpful to me?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Clearing out the basement. The rack is dusty but in great condition. Spent most of its life in storage. I have all the hardware and most importantly the key. Also has a fairing model 555.

I used it on my 1997 VW GTI but it should fit other models.I originally bought it from RackNRoad on Aurora. I’m sure they can tell you if it would work on your car. https://www.racknroad.com

…And it will soon finish. For the rest of the month KZJO 22.x and the KCPQ-LP 13.x signals from the Capitol Hill transmitter will be intermittent as we shut them off at times to accommodate the tower climbers. This will not affect the KCPQ 13.x signal from our Bremerton tower.

Hi, I have a pair of never-been-worn women’s 500-series Blundstone Original boots in classic “Stout Brown” that I received as a gift (from unknown retailer, and thus I cannot ethically return). They are the same as this, in women’s size 9: https://www.rei.com/product/120621/blundstone-original-500-boots-womens. They have never been worn. I would love for them to find a good home with someone who will show them more attention. They retail for $184.95 – I’ll part with them for $100. If you’re in North Admiral, as I am, even better for ease of exchange.

Many retailers share information with a nationwide task force that builds cases against repeat shoplifters, not only at one store but all stores working with the task force (if they steal at Marshall’s and then hit QFC the dollar amounts will be combined). By combining all thefts a person can then be charged with a felony rather than a misdemeanor. Kroger/QFC has cameras in every aisle recording everything.

Shopping elsewhere Is not an answer, the problem is everywhere. some thief’s go from store to store, its happing right under your nose, open your eyes.
One solution is a Police task force, that visits different stores and targets repeat offenders. 6 months in jail not a slap on the hand.
Last week I watched as a shoplifter who got chased outside a store picked up a bundle of firewood and threatened a clerk and then threatened to cause and I quote “destruction in the store”
They had her ID but nothing was ever done.
We need a shoplifter task force .(I think its already being used)

You might think differently if you for example read the police report of what happened to two Roxbury Safeway employees who tried to stop shoplifters; I happened onto while researching this

CRIME WATCH FOLLOWUP: 2 robbery suspects charged

It wasn’t the main subject of that story so I summarized. But the detailed narrative was rather vivid. Head slammed into concrete by one shoplifter-turned-robber as other pulled gun, etc.

And those were teenagers. Perhaps the solution will eventually be technological so no one has to risk life and limb – if your items aren’t paid for, an invisible field stops you from leaving the store? I’m no inventor so don’t ask me how that would work.

Or perhaps, in this gun-crazy society, QFC is afraid of endangering its employees by having them chase after possibly desperate, possibly armed people.

It seems a leap to assume the reason they don’t stop the shoplifters is because QFC is afraid of being sued. Do you know that to be true?
My assumption would be more as a safety measure for their employees. That it’s not worth the trouble to stop someone who may be mentally ill and could potential harm them.
Whatever the reason it’s a bummer.

Do any of the West Seattle Mexican restaurants make their own tortillas? I am not looking to buy them so I don’t need shopping suggestions. I am specifically inquiring about restaurants that make their own. Thanks

At QFC again today as shoplifter just walks out, 2 employees watch, I asked and they said he comes in every few days and just walks out with stuff, this time he even had a large bundle of toliet paper. not trying to hide anything.
employee said that we don’t try to stop them.
What is this society coming to?
We pay more for our groceries because QFC is afraid to stop a shoplifter, they might get sued.

Hello fellow parents of West Seattle!

I’m here to encourage you to register your child/ren for a local youth baseball program now. Yes, now . . . in January . . . while under threat of snow.

This might be useful to anyone with kids who have not yet played in a league and not realize how early registration for youth baseball takes place. By the time Spring Training starts, it’s almost too late for many leagues. Don’t miss out!

I will make my pitch for West Seattle Baseball. It’s a tremendous community fueled by a strong collection of volunteers. Having had my sons in three different programs in the area, I feel strongly that you’d struggle to find anything as good. That said, I have talked to a lot of West Seattle Little League parents who love that league, too. Either way, baseball is the key!

Both organizations have “scholarship” programs to help families who might need it to make registration fees, so do not be afraid to inquire if that is you.

Hope to see all sorts of kids out there on the baseball diamonds when the sun finally returns to warm our ‘hood.

    PEACE & PLAY BALL!
