I don’t know how big a problem this is, but given Seattle’s reluctance to enforce most laws it might be bigger than you’d think. I know that I have neighbors whose multiple cars have all had Oregon tags for 15 years ++; different, but related. The issue is one of fairness; somebody has to pay, and those who don’t pay their fair share place the increased burden on everyone else. So yes, it does affect “us”. Nor do I understand why everyone is piling on Eddie. His gas station idea might not be the best or most workable, but the issue itself is as legitimate as any of the other rants posted in the forums. As Jort might point out, maybe it’s because Americans anthropomorphize their cars and get downright tetchy if anyone suggests putting constraints on that ‘relationship’.

Enjoy working in the food industry but tired of working in restaurants?
Enjoy warehouse work but don’t want to join an evil empire or drive to Kent?
    Come work at Ritrovo!

We are an award-winning importer and wholesaler of high-end Italian specialty food. We ship all over the US and to Canada.

We are looking for a full-time warehouse worker to join our small but dedicated team.

    Warehouse:
The warehouse is where inbound containers are received, bailed, and product is organized. Orders are then pulled, packed, and shipped out. We pack boxes to ship via UPS, and we stack and wrap pallets to ship LTL. This job requires attention to detail and a strong safety mindset. You must also be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly, and up to 80 lbs. occasionally. The warehouse crew is on their feet most of the day on a concrete floor. Knowledge of shipping software and QuickBooks is a plus. Forklift skills would also be helpful.

Some Benefits of Working at Ritrovo include…

Health Insurance: Employees working at least 25 hours per week qualify for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage after 60 days. The employee contribution is $50 a month.

Predictable hours: We operate 9-5, Monday through Friday.

Sampling Allowance: We ask that employees take our products home to test in their own kitchens. This improves employee product knowledge.

Semi-regular happy hour at the end of the day on Friday: Company has a sparkling wine subscription.

Convenient location: We are located near the 1st Avenue S bridge. There is a bus stop about ½ mile away. DO NOT APPLY IN PERSON!

    Wages:
Wages vary depending on experience and whether you choose to participate in the health insurance plan. Starting hourly wage range is $17 – 19.

If this sounds like the job for you, please email an introductory letter with a resume attached to:

Maybe offer to fix the muffler. It is actually very cheap as long as you don’t take it to a garage and you can either get parts online cheap or get the same parts a garage would charge you $400 to get and you can get the exact same part for $40. And because garages are now charging $100+ an hour instead of paying them a couple thousand dollars to fix something I would offer to do it for a couple hundred dollars. If anyone wants to help out maybe start a go fund me or just donate some money. Heck if I can help out and save the poor person that delivers papers at 3am I would be there in a heartbeat. You all put your money where your mouth is and I’ll be there to help out someone that’s probably in need and can’t afford a garage. Let’s do our part to help our communities. We all live together. Don’t single one person out and say well they should be doing this. Let’s figure out ways to help our fellow people.

It depends on what you need the data for. I don’t think it curves too much, and in any case the day to day route depends on other traffic in the bay. BTW, both Bing and Google Maps allow you to measure multi-point routes if you want to measure something other than a straight line. Just right-click on where you want to start the route, select “measure distance” from the menu and keep dropping points along your curve.

And if I am not mistaken, the city or some governmental agency just decided they weren’t going to fine people for not having current registration tabs

You are mistaken. They are not going to pull people over for the sole reason of having expired registration tabs. Not the same thing at all.

First of all, why should any of us care about something like this when it doesn’t affect us? Secondly, it would definitely not be something reasonably easy to do. I am disabled and already can’t get someone to pump my gas for me (despite the ADA rules that say otherwise) unless I drive to Costco for gas. Would we all have to go line up inside the convenience store at the local gas station to have our cards checked? I think this would go just as well as how people reacted to having vaccine cards checked (which was not received well by many). And how many people do you think are actually driving around with expired tags? 50 or 100 people should wait online to prove they’re worthy so we can catch the 1 who isn’t?

    Hello,
I am interested in learning about co-working or co-crafting spaces in West Seattle. I have a computer job and I’m on conference calls about 1/2 of the time. I also enjoy drawing and other crafts. I enjoy ambient noise – kids, dogs, other people working, the sounds of a busy store, or the like. I’d be open to working in someone else’s home, office, the back end of someone’s local store in extra space, or other spaces. I’m friendly and upbeat, but also respectful and quiet. I am sensitive to molds, dust, and cats, so I’d like a clean, cat-free space.
I tried the Co-working space in West Seattle next to Paper Boat, but I had a reaction to the space (dust mites, mold?).
I’d be there during the day, probably. Open to a variety of prices/space ideas.

So, the gas station attendants would be responsible? What about stations that only have one person inside a minimart? There are very few gas stations these days that have attendants out by the pumps. Can you imagine the lone Costco gas attendant having to look over every car before the driver pumps gas? Sorry I think your thought is far from ‘easy to do’. And if I am not mistaken, the city or some governmental agency just decided they weren’t going to fine people for not having current registration tabs. And it seems to be that the old beat-up vehicles that are housing people all over the city rarely move so they don’t even have the need or ability to pump gas. Back to the drawing board Eddie.

Tired of seeing so many scoflaws with expired vehicle registration tags? What would you think about requiring proof of current registration prior to being allowed to put gas/diesel in your car/truck?
Seems like it would be reasonably easy to do and would minimize the burden on law enforcement.

Verizon is the best overall. Many places-La Push; South end of Orcas Island for example only Verizon gets a signal. If you do much travelling I would definitely stick with Verizon. Have you called Verizon?? As WSB said they may be doing upgrades in your area which will improve service.

We are in Upper Fauntleroy (uphill from south-central Lincoln Park) and have both Verizon and AT&T phones in the house. The Verizon signal is much stronger (I’m looking at my AT&T phone right now and as usual it has only one tick). However, things can and do change – in my near-daily checks of building permits, the cell companies are often adding to/swapping out their local facilities … TR

1280z, if your rule-breaking “isn’t harming anyone”, it’s only because MOST dog owners choose to follow the rules. If we all ran our dogs on the Madison playfield, it would be rendered unusable for its intended purposes in short order. So you’re basically counting on the rest of us to follow the rules so that you can continue to feel OK about breaking them. THAT’S some entitlement.

Earlier today I found a single key attached to a very small pendant near the bathhouse on Alki.

What’s attached to the key ring is what’s important. If you can identify the object and what the pendant on your keychain looks like I can get this back to you.
