Census follow-up survey

I have been contacted by a representative from the US Census Bureau. They conduct follow-up surveys with selected households, asking for detailed info about income and expenses. I was able to provide this info anonymously, but it does seem legitimate but intrusive and I wondered if anyone else had any experience with this.

I find it hard to believe that the US Government is making phone calls. Those of us who don’t think like criminals often can’t imagine how calculated a criminal plot can be. Best to be cautious in my opinion.
