They don’t. It’s all emotion, according to a few new researchers and writers I’m studying. There’s a book, “The Political Brain,” by Drew Westen that outlines some of this. Supposedly “most Americans agree with Democrats and vote for Republicans” because Republicans appeal to the heart while Democrats deal with facts and appeal to the mind.
I’m totally intrigued by this. Why would a lifelong democrat who never voted republican in her whole life be unable to vote for Obama and only give “He’s arrogant” as a reason?
