Oh, this is a great thread!
The bicycle guy! I haven’t seen him/her in ages, but s/he used to ride past my house quite frequently.
I grew up a block away from “Gertrude.” (I don’t know if that was her name, I know her as Mrs. L but will keep the family name to myself because I believe members of her family still live in the area.) I waited for the bus in front of her house and got many an interesting earful from her.
As for native burial grounds, don’t know about that but I do know there are some legends about some of the big glacial incidental boulders on the beaches in Fauntleroy Cove and in front of Me Kwa Mooks Park. The story is that a sea monster like creature (called something like an A-ha-yoos) lives in the stones and if you look at them the creature will make the earth shake. There’s a really interesting discussion of this in the book “The Street Smart Naturalist” that correlates the glacial incidentals with seismic activity along the Seattle Fault.
My daughter and I stayed at Camp Long a couple weeks ago and heard rumors of haunted cabins. Living here all my life, I never heard of that before (or most of the hauntings mentioned here, actually). Anyone else heard about Camp Long hauntings?
And I’ll admit, I was looking here to see if anyone had reported seeing my husband trimming our hedge with his katana last week. (It turned out to work better than the electric hedge trimmer or the hand clippers, but it was definitely an odd sight!)
