Ken, the opposition is not being raised against upgrading or developing the area. It’s to oppose upzoning the area to a new zone that allows bigger/taller buildings and more disruptive businesses. They are two different issues, not directly comparable.

Re: tiny url. Ken, TinyURL doesn’t obscure anything; when you use it the whole URL is revealed, plus Lisa was inviting people to the Facebook page, not trying to hide it. Thanks for the humor charlabob! My guess is since you just mentioned tiny urls to Lisa she didn’t know you can name them, i.e., TinyURL.com/NAME. Tiny urls are particularly useful in marketing when, say, instead of sending an email with a gigantic link, or printing a long link on a marketing piece, you can use a tiny url with a name embedded. Great stuff – tiny urls!

Okay, I’m giggling over all this tinyURL talk but in a tragicomic way. Good lord. Lisa, thank you so much for sharing the information, and for your patience and diplomacy in hanging in there to get the message across. This is a really important issue with ramifications beyond the neighborhood it would impact if the upzone were approved. Our community may benefit from watching closely over this process, studying and debating the real issues, and ensuring that the right thing is done for the good of all involved. I oppose the rezone proposal and commend your efforts.
