Elliott’s oil change coupon is a bait-and-switch. For the oil recommended for my car (and I’m not talking about anything exotic here, just a synthetic blend)there was about a $20 markup. Since I was about to hit the highway, I went ahead and let them change the oil.
When I picked up my car the guy told me my car needed its 45k service and went into a big drama, rolling his eyes and shaking his head while he implied that the engine was prime to fall out the moment I hit the highway. I didn’t bother to tell him I had just had it serviced by the dealer at half his quoted price–just politely declined. Then he tried to convince me that I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED to let them sell me new windshield wiper blades for about $60.
I would highly recommend Courtesy Tire (Firestone) on California instead. Their prices are up-front and they do exactly what needs to be done. They’ve also been up-front with me about what isn’t necessary or what can wait a few months.
