Does WSB have a police scanner?

Police/fire/other miscellaneous frequencies … we have it on a lot but not every second of the day/night … Turned it on as soon as we got this note. Luckily the other half of the team was out distributing Garage Sale maps in Admiral and always carries a video/still cam so we diverted to this.

Too bad Seattle wouldn’t put their police radio on the internet (like some Police departments do) – I’m thinking it would do more good than harm to do so.

It would be cool to be able to listen to police frequencies on the net, however, you’ll no doubt get those who may compromise the safety of police officers responding to certain situations that require a more tactical approach by showing up and interfering in some way or another.

Huge kudos to the neighbor who approached the boys as they were breaking in, and to a second neighbor that followed the boys to the Met Market block while keeping 911 on the phone regarding their location.

    Thank you!

Two of these kids where hanging around in the Bartell’s next to Met Market. They seemed really nervous and suspicious, almost the point where I called the cops from the store. They left after about 15 minutes, the cops saw them and arrested them in front of Merrill Gardens. Punks.

A few moments ago, just before 9:00 PM, a fellow came to the door and knocked very hard. I didn’t answer. He waited and knocked again. I answered and it was one of those guys selling security systems. Icon security was on the little signs he was carrying around. Now, he could see that we have both a sticker on our door AND a sign next to the door that we have a security system. And it was almost 9:00! I asked him to leave immediately and suggested that he find a new way to market his product as people are on the lookout for burglary rings who case houses by “selling” door to door. I suggested that he also look at the time as someone who comes to one’s door where the porch light is off and the blinds are closed at such a late time of evening is asking for trouble. I wished him a good evening and closed the door. I then went out to see what kind of vehicle he was driving and it was not parked on my street, and he began walking down the street. I yelled to him “I am looking to see what kind of vehicle you are driving as I was just about to call 911.” He sort of laughed and kept on walking. Now he may be legit and just have bad manners OR he could actually be casing houses posing as a helpful security salesman. He did have a door to door sales license around his neck, but I didn’t get a very good look at it. In any event, after all the great coverage on this blog, I was prepared to NOT let him see in my house and gave him the impression that I had my crime prevention act together. I know, I know…I should have just ignored him. But I wanted to take the opportunity to let him know I was watching him…closely.

As juveniles, these kids probably will be getting a slap on the wrist and be back on the street by the weekend.

Sorry, comment time is over.
