Spotted this sign on the interior east side of Jefferson Square today – looks like See’s Candies is coming back. Three years ago, the classic candymaker had a holiday-season shop at J-Square that lingered until Valentine’s Day; we’ll check with the company tomorrow to see if that’s the plan this time – nothing on the See’s website yet.
Why do this when it’s going to likely be demolished for light rail in ~2-3 years? Not sure I get this move…
(a) Light rail construction is at the very least three years away
(b) If you missed the references, chances are good that this is a TEMPORARY store. The last one three years ago was open for three months. Why just let the space sit vacant for three years if you at least have temporary tenant(s)?
WSB…Correct…Monthly Rent coming in for a retail space, even if temporary, is better than no rent.
Whoo- woo! We are excited. The family is getting See’s boxes of candy for Christmas, with their other presents. So nice it’s close.
I can hardly fathom that he’s gone – I last saw him at the farmers market a couple weeks back and we exchanged friendly smiles, after many times of similar small interactions over the years. I am so deeply sorry for your loss, Tracy.
