The photo and report are from Sweta:
This morning I found that our mailboxes had been pried open with mail scattered on the ground. Our building is on California in North Admiral. Incident was reported to the US Postal Inspection Service.

Another reminder to check your mailbox and pick up your mail daily. If you’re going to be out of town you can stop delivery and have it held at the post office for pick up on your return.
The thing is, no one handles financial stuff through the mail anymore, everything is done online. You might get a bill through the mail, but you pay it online. You MIGHT get a check from someone, but not often. These guys are low, low amateurs who are spending a lot of time and energy for next to nothing, except costing others $$$.
Speak for yourself -I know many many folks (especially older folks) who continue to handle all their financial , health, other important matters via mail. They receive checks in the mail , send checks through the mail.
BrianD. There are a LOT of older people (and younger too) who actually DO financial and personal transactions the old-fashioned way via mail. Not everyone is welded to their phone/computer. By the way, electronic transactions are NOT failsafe and immune to fraud.
I don’t pay bills or bank online either. I use the mail system to receive bills and pay with checks. I don’t trust online banking or automatic bill paying.
Doesn’t matter how people do their banking, the main purpose of mail theft is to steal ones identity.
You know what else come in through the mail???
Credit Card apps, bank statements, credit card statements…ect.
Everything you need to steal someone’s identity.
Looks like our condo mailboxes were broken in to today too. Double break in since our mailboxes are inside in lobby area, so person obviously broke in front or back door (yet no damage to door entry). We’re on Calif in Admiral area too. Friend shared that postal carrier in Edmonds (and other places) was attacked and had keys stolen. Hopefully US Postal Service would notify building owners/condos if keys stolen. Also agree on comment, many important items are still delivered via regular mail, not all electronic and that system isn’t 100% safe either.
Sorry, comment time is over.
