WHALES: Orcas in the area

2:42 PM: Just got a text from Kersti Muul that orcas are visible from Constellation Park, looking across Puget Sound toward the Southworth ferry terminal. They’re northbound. Let us know if you see them!

4:10 PM: Still in the area, according to an Orca Network commenter who reported orcas just south of Restoration Point on the south end of Bainbridge [map].

This group of killer whales included T087 (the oldest west coast Biggs’ killer whale), T100E and the T100Bs.  Photos were sent to Salish Wildlife Watch and Puget Sound Orcas documenting a new, previously undocumented calf traveling along side T100B.  This calf would most likely receive the alpha-numerica designation of T100B3.

Remarkable news of a new calf.  I observed the whales, at great distance, from Constellation Park.  Probably 50 people showed up to look, but very few had the high power optics required to see the orcas.

Here is the new calf. Taken by Jim Pasola from shore. Bad boat behavior out there yesterday.

Sorry, comment time is over.
