WEEKEND PREVIEW: Ladies’ Musical Club library concerts return

(Seattle Public Library photo)

This weekend, the historic West Seattle (Admiral) Library hosts the return of a pre-pandemic favorite – the Ladies’ Musical Club. They bring free classical-music concerts to the library, and the first one in three years is scheduled for 3 pm this Sunday (November 13). The concert features woodwind duets; you can see the program on the library’s website.

Clarice Alfonso, the soprano who’s singing the second half, is a fellow choir member of mine. She has a STUNNING voice, and this should be a marvelous afternoon!

The name Ladies’ Musical Club sounds very anachronistic, say 1950s or earlier. I envision women all wearing white gloves and men in suits.  But the program sounds very interesting, so I might at least have to pull out my dress sneakers. ;)

The LMC is over 100 years old.  They have been bringing music to schools and public organizations continuously for that entire time and should be congratulated for their efforts to make musical culture available to everyone in our city.

Sorry, comment time is over.
