DEVELOPMENT: Comment time for 5051-5053 Fauntleroy Way

From today’s Land Use Information Bulletin, a proposal for seven townhouses on two adjacent Fauntleroy Way parcels has reached the official comment stage. We first reported almost a year ago on the proposal for 5051-5053 Fauntleroy Way SW, which is now listed as two separate projects: four units at 5051, three at 5053, with one offstreet-parking space for each unit. You have two weeks to comment; the notices (here’s the one for 5051; here’s the one for 5053) explain how to do that.

No more construction until the Bridge is fixed

      Yes.

This isn’t construction, it’s a permit application. The process depending on many factors can take a very long time. Since nobody can say what will happen with the bridge, holding up private construction or the permit process doesn’t really make sense. For all we know the bridge will be fixed by the time they have a permit in hand. If fallout from the bridge is really that bad people just won’t buy or rent.

Why?  Anything going through the planning stages now won’t be finished until the bridge is fixed anyway.

But the vehicles used by construction crews, trucks bringing materials (concrete, backhoes, etc.) to access the site will only add to the disruption and overload of ingress and egress routes.  (Unless Jort can convince them all to bike. /s)

Wow, that’s a pretty big stretch.  If they’re not west side contractors, they’d be travelling the reverse of rush hour traffic.  If they are, they don’t need the bridge to get to the site.  Should we ban UPS deliveries while the bridge is down, too?  They’re coming from SODO.  The argument to stop building housing because the bridge needs repair is ridiculous.  People still need places to live.

Stop It & Carole; Why do your comments not apply to all commerce? Singling out construction seems odd. There are also West Seattle based companies…

Stop it – I agree, how many more apartments does WS need, if bridge is not fixed, a lot will be sitting empty, many apartment dwellers can move on to better locations.

Sorry, comment time is over.
