West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen black brakeless BMX bicycle

From Norman:

Thursday night or last night, our son’s matte black BMX bike was stolen off our porch. It has been reported to the police. It has whitewall tires and no brakes; he took them off – it’s a bike for doing tricks; we had it shipped from Europe. This happened on the 5600 block of 25th Ave SW.

Please be on the lookout for it.

Maybe the thief will find out the hard way

Yes, I was just thinking … look in the bushes at the bottom of the nearest hill.

Someone found one of our stolen bikes (we live over on 26th) in the creek and contacted us through bikeindex.org where we had posted it as stolen.  Put it on there as well.  I would definitely also walk around and see if you spot it.  Maybe down by the beaver pond.  I walk a lot in the neighborhood and will also keep an eye out.

Thanks for keeping an eye out, I walked down the trail to the first bridge but retreated as there is people living back there with a dog that was not on a leash plus two tents, looks like they have been there for a while,I got got bad vibes so I walked back home. :(

Looks a little out of proportion to be a BMX bike but nonetheless, thank you – I’ve sent Norman a note to be sure he sees this comment

I thought the frame looked a little big, but I haven’t seen many white wall tires. If I had been walking, I may have tried to get a better look. Thanks for all your work helping people recover lost items & keeping us informed!

My God, since his bike was stolen I have been going in a mile and a half radius around our house and there are bikes every where, I was thinking I might start bringing them all home and post them all before somebody else picks them up for scrap. I am not kidding they are every where. :(

Update the bike was at the Delridge library today tied up to the bike rack around 8:00 o’clock tonight by a library worker but I did not get there in time, this was posted on the Delridge neighborhood site on face book.

Don’t give up hope. When our son’s bike was stolen, I thought I had seen it a couple of times. Then my son saw it locked up. We confirmed the serial number, brought a copy of our receipt & waited for the cops until we cut the lock off & took it back. I hope it’s spotted again soon & he gets it back.

So today as I am driving past the delridge library I see my sons bike and the person who had it, I went over and took his photo, he came at me wanting to know why I took his photo, I said because that bike you have is my sons, he says no I bought it from a friend, I say well one of you stole it off my F’ing porch he mumbles some thing I didn’t catch(hear) and starts walking off I follow him taking pictures the whole ways as he is covering his face with some black material he tells me if I take another photo he is going to F me up, I say really and take another photo and walk over to my truck to call 911, my phone doesn’t want to call so I pull out into the drive way to watch where he go’s, he vanished I go home my wife calls the police this happened at noon, we have been waiting until a half an hour ago for them to show up, finally called them and told them we can’t wait all night,I don’t mean to bad mouth the police I know they are very busy with more important things but I most likely would have found him if I had not sat waiting for 8 hours, so the search go’s on. :(
