West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen ‘trike’ and generators

The photo and report are from Nick:

My blue trike wagon and 2 portable generators were stolen from my home. The generators were locked to my travel trailer that was parked in my driveway and the locks were cut very crudely and my GF and I think that they must have taken the trike and carried the generators away on it. I’m including a picture of the bike so that if anyone sees the bike, they can let me know.

The police report # is 2018-353404.

I would look where the rv’s are parked. As the weather gets cold I would guess generators are a hot commodity.

Ya, I’ll keep an eye out for this trike/trailer setup around there.  So much stolen stuff left trashed to the side of the path and roads on my bike commute to and from work.  There’s even some Ofo bikes if you want some spare bits.  Our city council has made sure the 5 finger discount will thrive in this city by neutering SPD.

Couldn’t have said it better. Who cares that you worked hard for your property. There’s clearly someone out there that deserves it more than you. And they are entitled to take it from you.

They focus on traffic infractions because it is revenue, but they won’t receive city funding if there is no need for other services, so if you  are concerned about theft then we desperately need to fund their departments.  It’s also the main motivation for gun ownership.  There is a long historic money trail to detect.  Uniforms, custom vehicles, helicopters, civil forfeiture.  Frankly I pay more to live in an upscale safe neighborhood, since property values have risen, my neighbors have much more at stake and put in a lot of effort to secure their tools, vehicles and items of interest to a thief. The motives on why law enforcement doesn’t respond to theft and burglary in particular is to receive funding because you are afraid.  When I was in property management and had issues with panhandlers and theft and the resulting filth and garbage an officer told me that he didn’t want a filthy intoxicated vandal in his police car, there was no money in taking this guy in and he would have a mess to clean up.

And I’m going to guess those generators are being used by some upstanding citizen living in a camper.  But don’t worry, I’m sure they needed those generators more than you did.        Sorry man, that sucks.   My bike was stolen out of a secure parking garage and out of the Bike Storage room of my “luxury” apartment (Junction 47).  A police report was made. Equity Residential sad they would install cameras. They have yet to make the residents safer, so I moved out last year.  I’m sure my bike is under the West Seattle bridge or over on Harbor Avenue.

Sorry to hear you had a similar experience. Wish there was more we could do about it. I tried going around the different encampments trying to find my bike, but even if I did and took it back, I’m sure they would be right back at my house stealing it back again or worse.

Sorry, comment time is over.
