WEST SEATTLE SCENE: Choir from Iceland pauses to pose – and perform

MONDAY EVENING: Thanks to John LaSpina for this photo of a West Seattle photo-op by singers who are more than 3,600 miles from home. The Fóstbræður all-male choir, from Iceland, performed at the grand opening of the new Nordic Heritage Museum on Saturday and has a show tonight at Plymouth Congregational Church. John caught them in the Duwamish Head sunshine around 3 this afternoon.

ADDED TUESDAY: Thanks to Erla for sharing, in a comment, video of the choir singing on our shore:

Sweet! I can tell they are singing in the photo.. too bad we can’t ‘click’ onto something to get audio of this nicely framed shot. Good timing of the tugboat to be centered also.

What a site, I wish I’d known about the concert sooner, that would’ve been incredible to hear.

What Alki said.  Nowhere did I see any mention of this choir – my family would have been there for sure.  They certainly could have filled a local theater with all the Icelanders, Danes, Norwegians and Swedes living here.  Shame they didn’t get more publicity.

Here is a video for those interested. You really missed a tremendous concert tonight…  but here you can at least hear their personal idenity song! 😉

I am also so disappointed I didn’t know of this concert sooner.  We would have loved it.

I’ve heard Icelandic sounds like the Vikings must have spoke. I think it’s true!

    Welcome Icelandic Men’s Choir!

We visited last October. Your country is awesome.

They also performed at the Nordic Museum grand opening on Saturday. They were all on my Icelandair flight on Friday! It was snowing when we left Iceland, so I’m really glad they got beautiful weather here.

Sorry, comment time is over.
