What you saw in the sky: Amazon jet on photo shoot

Thanks to Woody’s Aeroimages for the heads-up via Twitter – Amazon‘s first-ever Prime Air jet is doing a photo shoot over the city, and we hear it’s been spotted over West Seattle. The 767-300 flew during Seafair; here’s more about it from GeekWire.

That makes sense. I was wondering if it was normal to see a small plane flying basically directly above and on the same course as a larger one…but I had just finished a run and my brain was too cobwebby and slow to come up with a response.

Thanks WSB. I watched it bank over West Seattle 3 or 4 times and thought of all kinds of scenarios – most of them scary because of the escort plane and how low it was flying. Photo shoot was not on my list. Glad to hear it was only that!

Thanks for sharing! As I was getting into my car this afternoon I saw the plane flying at kind of a weird angle with a smaller plane flying alongside it-it seemed out of place and I’ll admit, rather eerie, I texted my husband about it.

Thank you WSB for clarifying this crazy siting. The past couple days I’ve noticed aircraft using non-traditional routes out of Sea-Tac over Burien and West Seattle. The small plane seemed like one more of those – UNTIL I saw the big plane ‘chasing’ the small plane.

The non-traditional routes were because of Seafair – when the Blue Angels are up, Sea-Tac launches to the west.

Mr. X, I believe they may have air-dropped your bag of cat food to one of the boats along the log boom on Lake Washington on Sunday.
