West Seattle Crime Watch: Police investigating North Delridge gunfire reports

1:21 PM: Police are in North Delridge right now, investigating reported gunfire. A texter told us about it just after 1 pm, saying they had called 911 and were told others had too. No victim reported, but police have been searching an alley west of Delridge Way, between Edmunds and Hudson, and other nearby areas including a stairway along Genesee.

1:54 PM: We went to the area in hopes of finding officers to ask what if anything they’d found, but they apparently had moved on. However, we did talk to a lieutenant here at Forest Lawn, where the Memorial Day ceremony is about to start; he says the initial report was someone with a revolver, in which case no shell casings would have been left behind.

All of these ‘North Delridge’ incidents are happening right outside my house. This used to be a nice neighborhood, and as far as I can tell, we just have one problem house. If all of us know who the problem is, why can’t the police put a stop to it? I wanted this to be our long-term home, but now I am afraid to let my kids outside. What can we do? How can we stop this? Is there anywhere that would be safe?

ND – have you spoken to the Community Police Team, whose officers deal with chronic problems, just to see if they are working on it? Or the North Delridge Neighborhood Council, which often has police at its meetings, or the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council, where we often see connections made between neighbors and police? Sorry if you’ve already been through all that, but I don’t want to assume.

We moved to this block recently and are super freaked out that this shooting happened but now reading your comment I realize I don’t know which house you’re talking about and now I’m even more freaked out! Is this problem house on 25th or Delridge? Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you.
