UPDATE: Gunfire investigation in North Delridge

4:45 AM: Police are reported to be investigating gunfire in North Delridge. We heard from one person who heard something that sounded like shots around quarter till 4, and now a second person who says police found shell casings near Cottage Place and SW Edmunds [map]. No reports of injuries. We’re checking and will add anything more we find out.

5:22 AM: Police were gone by the time we arrived; we stopped by the precinct and confirmed that the original dispatch did come in with word of damage to vehicles in that area, as our second tipster mentioned, but we’ll have to get the official report later for further details.

12:47 PM: Just obtained the report from SPD. It says damage was done to three “party buses” (photo below) and a window at their owners’ residence, and “several” shell casings were found.

The owners told police they didn’t know of anyone who would target them but they did hear two males arguing out back before it happened. A nearby resident had told dispatchers of hearing three shots and seeing a red Cadillac SUV leaving the area. Police obtained surveillance video that might have recorded it.

It feels like McDonalds was giving out Glocks in their Happy Meals.

I heard those shots last night.  Woke me up and freaked me out.  I’d appreciate anymore news you can get!

This happened right in front of my home. The article describes exactly what happened. Police spent about 45 minutes outside with flashlights collecting shell casings and talking to neighbors then left.

We did just get the report. I’ll be adding to the story shortly.

Very frightening. Is there a plan to stop all of this gun violence?

None that I am aware of.    City “leadership” is more concerned with creating “safe zones” for RV campers rather than for all of it’s citizens.

There have been multiple plans over the years to “stop gun violence.”  If there’s one thing we’ve learned by now, it’s that if it were as easy as drafting a plan, gun violence would be stopped already.

Download and print your official “No Guns Allowed” signs from that program McGinn launched here – http://washingtonceasefire.org/gunfreezoneseattle/

Yeah, I don’t think printing off “gun free zone” signs is going to do anything at all to fix the problem…

Its hard to legislate against stupid !

I am waiting for the mayor to proclaim the summer of safety to prevent this type of violence!

Damn, if only I’d thought to post one of those “No Guns Allowed” signs before going to bed Tuesday night, I bet I wouldn’t have awoken to the police taking pictures of shell casings outside my front gate.

i live down the alley from this house on the other side of the coffee shop – for some reason, i just don’t believe it.  the types of cars that are parked near this house are all clunkers with broken windows, missing wheels and the like.  not trying to stereotype or anythin, but no one just drives by shooting at houses or ‘party buses’ randomly.   in the summertime, there are always thug looking people doing stuff with the buses.  would be great for the riff raff on this street to clean up – maybe set up a crime watch

I live across from this house and the people who live there are very very kind and would be the last people that someone would target with gunfire. I walk my dog past there every day and They always wave and say hello. It is a mother and son who live there. Great people.

Sorry, comment time is over.
