2:18 AM: If you heard the sirens: A Seattle Fire “heavy rescue” response went out a few minutes ago for a crash at 36th and Morgan. It’s already been scaled back to some degree; we’re on our way to find out more.

2:40 AM: One woman has been taken to the hospital, police tell us. A car is on its side in the planting strip on the east side of 36th south of Morgan; what appears to have been a parked pickup (now pointed uphill, southbound) has major rear-end damage.

2:52 AM: Morgan is open again after more SFD units left. Tow truck is arriving.

Was the accident on Morgan or on 36th?  I can’t figure out where the parked demolished truck was and how that happened if the speeder was on Morgan.

The callout was to 36th/Morgan but it was on 36th, a couple houses up, south of Morgan, east side of the street. But Morgan was blocked by the initial fire and police response, most of which had nowhere to park with vehicles on both sides of 36th (including the pickup truck that had its rear end smashed).

Looks more like most of rear end missing than rear end damage.  A little bondo and a touch up with paint and boy,do I have a truck for you ! Good deal for you today only.

Is that one of those F150s with the aluminum beds?

How do people get in accidents this serious on residential streets? Shocking how terrible drivers are out here.

The driver who lost control of her car was speeding in excess of 60 mph going northbound on 36th Avenue; she was under the influence of something.  She blew the octagonal stop sign behind (west side) the U-Haul store, narrowly missed a subcompact car eastbound on SW Morgan Street.  I suspect she made an attempt to avoid the car that was “in her way” and that’s where she lost control of her own vehicle.  I saw the unfolding scene from my kitchen window a block away on the corner of 35th and Morgan above the West Seattle Food Bank.  In as much as it was dark, I was a block to the east and only saw a vehicle bolt across Morgan so fast, I initially thought it was a motorcycle blasting through.  That’s how I reported the accident when I called 911 — a motorcycle down accident.

This house is RIGHT behind my apartment building. at the beginning of my alley. I never heard the crash or the sirens. I must have be out of it. I woke up Friday morning hearing about it on the news. The reporter said he was at 36th and Morgan and I thought.. no he’s not!!.. Sure enough, there he was. Totally messed up the guys truck. He will sometimes park it in the entrance to his garage in the alley. So crazy.

Sorry, comment time is over.
