12:00 PM: Thanks to the texter who sent the photo from a car fire that Seattle Fire crews are currently fighting in the 9000 block of 14th SW. It’s a fire with potential exposure to the adjacent house, and that’s why the response is larger. Updates to come.

12:06 PM: SFD says it was a motor-home fire in a driveway (reader photo added). It’s out, and the cause is under investigation.

12:40 PM: Just went by. The investigator is still on scene. We confirmed that no one was hurt.

4:34 PM: SFD spokesperson Corey Orvold tells WSB the cause hasn’t been determined yet, but damage to the vehicle and its contents totaled $1,200.

ADDED MONDAY NIGHT: We received the clip above via text. We’ll be checking again Tuesday on whether SFD figured out how the fire started.

I live in the area where this happened — usually referred to as Highland Park, even in other reports from you. Is South Delridge really another name for the area? Just curious.

Sorry, when we heard about this we thought it was further south … Will fix.

I’m amazed we don’t see more of these ugly, tan motor homes going up on smoke all over the city.  If they are as ugly and unsafe on the inside as they appear to be on the outside…

I hope the new RV Safe Lot has a one or two sand buckets at the ready.

Wow, guys.  This is our neighbor you’re talking about.  I’m glad everyone is okay and that it didn’t spread beyond the RV before it was put out.

a bucket of sand is only a help if it is a small fire, the best is a 25 pound cardox extinguisher, no mess, last ditch effort is dry chemical..extreme mess weeks of clean-up..

SFD response to this was great. They arrived in three or four minutes, and had the flames down to billowing smoke just two or three minutes after charging the hose. Of course, now the burned-out RV is just sitting there, a day later. These aren’t the neatest neighbors.

It has been reported to the city.

The RV that is.  Wondering about what the SFD says is the cause.

    • WSB January 26, 2016 (7:19 pm)

CM – they haven’t announced it yet. I’m continuing to ask and will publish a followup when we hear.

For about twenty-four hours after this incident, the neighbors here noticed sediment in our tap water. Is this common after a fire hydrant is tapped and used on a block? It seems to have cleared up now, but was unsettling (get it? turbidity humor) for a while.

Thanks, WSB.  I know it has been a very busy news week for you.

Still no cause released? Sorry to bug you, but this is on my street.

Sorry, comment time is over.
