VIDEO: Time-lapse view of tunnel machine moving into repair pit

Following up on this morning’s news that the Highway 99 tunnel machine had made it as far into the repair pit alongside the Alaskan Way Viaduct as it needed to go, WSDOT has released the 1:14 time-lapse video embedded above. According to this morning’s update, taking its cutterhead apart to be lifted out for repairs is expected to take weeks.

The url for the video has some extra info in it (“-nocookie”) that does not play.

If you remove the content it works.

Ray, might be your configuration. Works here (we always test before posting) and I just checked again. “Nocookie” is the style of YouTube URLs we use for everything we embed, our videos and others’ – YT kindly offers that option so that they cannot track you through our website. We don’t use tracking and we don’t believe third parties should be able to track through our website either. Anyway, if anyone else has that problem, here’s the direct URL on YT’s site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS52u6Y_tXU (which you can always get from an embedded video by clicking the YT logo toward the lower right of the window) – TR
