West Seattle coffee notes: Caffé Fiore, Café Osita, Sugar Rush

3 notes from the West Seattle coffee world:

CAFFE´FIORE OPENING DATE CHANGES: Last week we reported that Caffé Fiore had announced tomorrow as its opening date in a new live/work building at 2206 California SW (next to West Seattle Fabric Company [WSB sponsor]). This morning we got a note from general manager Katrine Callahan saying they’ve had to reschedule to November 8th (one week from today). The night before that (Monday 11/7), she says, “We are inviting friends, family, and all our new neighbors and community members to come on over on the evening of Nov. 7th from 6 pm-9 pm for a ‘house warming’ or rather Fiore warming party!”

CAFE´ OSITA ANNIVERSARY: Proprietor Andrea Ramirez notes on Facebook that today is the second anniversary of the shop’s opening at 35th/Webster. (Last week, you’ll recall, a thief took the tip jar; she posted an update following the story thanking everyone for their support.)

SUGAR RUSH BAKING COMPANY: As this Junction enterprise celebrates its 7th anniversary, it’s focusing on the Sugar Rush name and phasing out “Coffee to a Tea with Sugar,” says SRBC boss Jilyan Perry. So just call them Sugar Rush from now on.

Early note to everyone in the West Seattle coffee business – you’re invited to send us your planned Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s hours soon as you know them, for our annual “where to get coffee on the holiday” lists! editor@westseattleblog.com

I overheard someone on their way into Sugar Rush the other day say “I don’t actually know what the name of this place is. We just call it the Sugar Shack.”

Sugar Rush made my wedding cake. It was a delicious cake, reasonably priced, and the staff was super. I try to stop in there now and then to scope out their beautiful cupcakes and other treats.

Glad they’re changing the name…the other just didn’t work. “Sugar Rush” is better branding.

Agreed that Sugar Rush is the way to go, though still a little sad since my 2.5-year-old son likes to say, “go Coffee a Tea.”

Just went by and looked in Cafe Fiore – at nighttime their orange lighted theme looks phenomenal. And, they have some really beautiful stuff going on in there with a giant iron chandelier hanging in the high ceiling. There’s upstairs seating, not alot 1st floor. But the 1st floor is that really cool old antiqued clear finished barn style wood with nails and stuff. Outstanding architecture from what I could see – and a nice sign in front on the building. Very classy looking!

Finally. Coffee to a Tea with Sugar was probably the worst business name in W. Seattle history. I can’t believe it took them this long to phase it out. But since their cupcakes are so great, it was forgivable! :-)

I heart Sugar Rush too. I have always just called them Sugar Rush since the other was too much of a mouthful and didn’t sound as cute.

Sorry, comment time is over.
