3 ways to help: Helpline, Killer Whale Tales, Furry Faces

HELP THE HELPLINE: Tomorrow night at 6 at the Duwamish Longhouse, it’s the fall fundraising gala for West Seattle Helpline. Executive director Tara Byrne says one of the highlights will be “award-winning Native American flutist and storyteller Paul ‘Che oke ten’ Wagner performing.” You can still get a ticket online by going here, no later than tomorrow morning.

KILLER WHALE TALES: Also at the Longhouse, West Seattle-headquartered Killer Whale Tales plans a dinner and auction – with special guest Tucker the whale-research dog! – on Saturday, November 12th, starting with drinks and appetizers at 6 pm. Tickets are available online, here.

‘THE ART OF LOVE’: Furry Faces Foundation‘s silent auction and wine tasting event, featuring Stomani Cellars, is set for Sunday, November 13th, 3-6 pm at Ola Salon. No admission fee; all ages are welcome. Read on for the official news release:

‘Spend your Sunday afternoon sipping a lovely glass of wine from Stomani Cellars and nibbling on lovely appetizers provided by Avalon, while enjoying the warm, classy atmosphere of Ola Salon and the soothing classical guitar and vocals of Tim Scallon, official Musical Artist of F3,‘, says Tammy Lyle, F3 Vice President. She explains, ‘Art Work has being donated by local artists, and people who asked us to ‘re-home’ their art. Admire and bid on lovely pieces that suit a variety of tastes, beautifully valued at many different price points.

Tammy continues, ‘Plus, new this year, raise your bidding card during our L3 Auction, a.k.a. ‘Labor of Love Live Auction’, emceed by our wonderful, Lora Swift! Many talented, skilled artists and professionals have donated their services, reflecting their love of animals and people’.

‘Show off your own creativity and artistic style by designing a one-of-a-kind wine glass charm,’ say Teri Ensley, F3 Leader. ‘And just try to control your giggles ‘n’ amazement when Gracie Dager’s ‘Band of Toys’ performs. Your mother has never seen a band like this!’

‘As always, proceeds from this event will support F3‘s two community programs, It’s Hip, To Be Snipped and Oliver’s Fund’, says Lora Swift, F3 Co-founder and Treasurer, ‘Both programs assist people, that are financially restricted, with their companion animals. Our mission is to keep animals with their humans, out of the shelters and reduce the number of animal companion pregnancies. We are looking forward to seeing you!’

Wine tasting cards or by the glass may be purchased for event consumption. Bottles of your favorite wine(s) will be available for take home enjoyment and holiday festivities. Be sure to get there early to enjoy Avalon’s appetizers, as they will go quickly!
