It’s a Thursday tradition in the summer – the SDOT list of what around Seattle might affect your ability to get from Point A to Point B over the weekend. It includes, of course, the Alaskan Way Viaduct closure and others for Saturday’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon – but there’s lots more. (Note: Saturday’s Morgan Junction Community Festival here in West Seattle isn’t mentioned but you can expect it’ll be busier at California/Fauntleroy, as there are vendors on both sides of California this year.) Read on for the SDOT list!

Starting tonight, it will be a busy next few days for sports enthusiasts – with Sounders’ soccer matches, Mariners’ baseball games, and the huge Rock ‘n Roll Marathon on Saturday. The marathon, with on-course entertainment including live bands, will have major impacts on traffic as 25,000 participants make their way from Tukwila up to north Seattle. Also on Saturday, 60,000 people are expected to turn out for the annual Greenwood Car Show. There are several marches and parades scheduled for the weekend, including the Seattle Pride Parade and March on Sunday when an anticipated 250,000 people will line Fourth Avenue through downtown to view the show.

For more details about these and many other weekend events, please see the schedule below. To help reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, the Seattle Department of Transportation encourages event-goers to consider leave the car behind and try one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – Metro Transit, the West Seattle Water Taxi, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or even walking, if feasible.
