West Seattle traffic notes: Andover striping; Viaduct reminder

Two notes this afternoon: First, if you haven’t seen this already in the WSB Forums, Chris reports a lane revision on eastbound Andover at Delridge (map). Second: Another reminder that the Alaskan Way Viaduct‘s semiannual inspection is this weekend, so it’s scheduled to be closed 6 am-6 pm Saturday and the same time frame Sunday (sometimes it reopens earlier, and we will report it here if that happens, as well as on Twitter and Facebook). Also note that a bit later this month, the eastbound West Seattle Bridge ramp to 99 will be closed for two nights – 10 pm-5 am, October 20-21 – as part of the Viaduct earthquake-gating project.

would that closure of the eastbound WSB ramp to 99 be from 10pm to5am? instead of 10am to 5pm? on 10/20-21…

Thanks for the fast proofread, fixed. I was off trying to find the direct link to the transportation list that confirms it – I had it in e-mail (and was reminded by seeing a sign on the way to the City Hall briefing) – should have that in a moment – TR

All I had to do was wait til I got home and check the blog, and of COURSE the info I wanted is right here. Thanks TR!

I’d seen the initial striping at Andover & Delridge sometime in the past two weeks, but this is a funky outcome for road that already had a funky setup to begin with.

Most people that drive that road on a regular basis will still think of it as two lanes, and realistically it probably still fits two lanes of cars (barely). It’s going to confuse people. Not to mention that there are still two stoplights. I think I’ll just avoid that intersection for a while.

What is the current word on Admiral? They made mock up stripes / spots / and other draft markings as though they were going to go out and paint. Now it sounds as if they are balking at the changes, but may be leaving us with the confusing paint until spring.

Where/when did you hear something about “balking at the changes”? As we reported last month, it’s supposed to happen sometime this month. I’ll be checking with SDOT again soon now that we’re halfway through …

Sorry, comment time is over.
