Two new names, one in The Junction, one on Alki Point

pharmaca.jpg

First one: If you haven’t seen these banners yet — Morton’s Pharmacy in The Junction is being taken over by Pharmaca, a chain that bills itself as an “integrative pharmacy” and already has stores in Madison Park and Wallingford. (Thanks to Krista for the tip.) The other new name — remember the Rip Tide condo conversion on Alki Point? We now know the building’s new name is Lighthouse Point. Here’s its website; news of the name actually emerged when the developers called to ask if it’s OK if they link WSB to the community section of their website. (If you’re curious – we were – the site lists only a few prices so far, in the $200K vicinity.)

uhg. Pharmaca is expensive and trendy. I’ve been going to Mortons since I was a wee tot. I used to get milkshakes from the little diner when I was sick (the diner closed down years ago). Sad.

The Junction without Morton’s? A sad day indeed.

Life in and around Lighthouse Point will be interesting… Word has it that there will be parking spaces on site for only half the units.

I’m sorry to hear that Morton’s will no longer be Morton’s, but…I’m sure Mort is ready to retire. And looking at the philosophy of Pharmaca, which I’m not familiar with, it seems to be the best of both worlds…conventional, homeopathic, holistic.

And…according to their website, they’re looking to hire a few people…ass’t. mgr. , bookkeeper, and about 2 or 3 other positions…..so if you’re local and want to work locally, it may be something to look into.

Sad, another local pharmacy bites the dust-and rare to find a compounding pharmacy (very necessary for hospice), I am hoping Pharmaca is one also.

I had an elderly man on the bus with me last night and he was so excited that Morton’s gave him a walker for free. He went in to buy one and they just told him he could have it. I guess it’s because they’re being taken over and getting new inventory. I’m glad he at least reaped some benefit from the change.

WR – if you squint at the photo (sorry it’s not clearer, we only had the cameraphone with us at that moment) it does say “Compounding Services.”

Sorry, comment time is over.
