Rude awakening

Thanks to the WSB readers who sent word of an overnight apartment fire @ 6314 42nd SW that woke up a lot of folks north of Morgan Junction (here’s a bit more on that building). Special thanks to Christopher Boffoli for sending photos of the fire and police activity (which he says blocked off Graham for a while; he also reports it was apparently an electrical fire):

I live on 42nd and was pretty nervous when I saw at least a dozen fire trucks outside my window. I went out but didn’t see any fire or smoke, so I assume they had it under control pretty quickly. The trucks stayed for a long time though…

I arrived right behind three smaller fire vehicles around 12:15am and there was lots of smoke but no visible fire. 42nd was already full of fire trucks with hoses deployed and hooked up to hydrants. So they must have been on the scene for at least 8-10 minutes before I got there. I watched some of the firefighters working on a low section of the building at the back where the smoke was pouring from. There were metal conduits in that area and the smoke smelled electrical. One of the bystanders suggested that a repair from last winter’s wind storms may have been the culprit because it wasn’t fixed correctly and was overloaded.
