More on Huling Bros. scandal

This morning’s Seattle Times article has many more details, including the contention from Huling’s new owners that they weren’t really briefed by the old owners that this was about to come slamming into them like a tsunami.

With any luck, the new owners will rescind the purchase and let the dear Huling bro’s deal with the resulting devastation because of “their” selection of employees. You can’t always tell when you hire them, but certainly this wasn’t the first time these greaseballs pulled something questionable.

Golly, a car dealer holding back on some details? Say it ain’t so!

Kind of like the first (and only) car I bought at Hulling some 15 years ago. Next morning, no start. They, of course, had no idea the alternater was bad….. sure.

I was LUCKY enough to walk out of Hulling Bros. WITHOUT buying a car a few years back, just got a bad vibe from the sales manager. And I also have never been back. If your car shopping beware of Hulling Bros I have heard many bad things about this dealership from other WS locals.

As I understand it, most of the senior sales staff jumped ship as this was about to hit and are now working at Bill Pierre (sp).

They ALL knew what was up and tried to buy their way out, then sell the place before the Sh%t hit the fan.

These guys are all serious scumbags.

Unfortunetly, a lot of innocent employees have been hauled into this (all that work there), and a lot (8 of them) have been let off. The employee that faked the “notorization” seems to be completely left off the hook, as well as all the rest. Quit fretting about your abuse (didn’t like the deal you got) and worry about what a great big condo development that is going to be. WOW!! Bellevue WEST.

It is not new that Huling Bros has had a very bad reputation for many years. I’m suprised they have stayed in business this long. Car salesmen, for the most part, don’t have a good reputation, but this…
Unfortunate for the new owners. Too bad they didn’t know about Huling’s reputation and problems.

I think all those employees knew about it. Huling was on the sale block for awhile and they were probably having a hard time making a profit last summer(I don’t know) But they all got what they desreve regardless if they turned their head slightly for a promise of some cash in return from the head conspirasor. They all took advantage of it and got what they deserved. A trip back to the unemployment line, if that.

what is known about the old management at Huling Bros. who was running the ship. Steve Marshalek who is he? Is there a kline manager??

  • Mark February 3, 2007 (7:06 pm)

I understand that they have a whole new management staff and the Gee Family has a great reputation and West Seattle will enjoy the new ownerr, as they truly do care and you will see that for yourself very soon. The President is Cline Davis and he has a great reputation and it is not spelled kline, you should pay attention and do your research. Steve Marshalek runs the Spokane operations, as the General Manager. Ryan Gee is the CEO and his father George is a sweetheart and is loved by all of Spokane. You need to give these people a chance to prove themselves. Not all car people are scumbags, there are plenty of people not in the car business that are scumbags, or maybe you have forgotten Enron

I bought a car from Huling Bros last summer and just 4 months after buying it, it has major mechanical problems. I bought the extended warranty but the service dept won’t honor it they told me they don’t/won’t honor Huling Bros. warranties. They told me to take my problem to the old owners. Does this sound like loyal, trustworthy new ownership?

What I heard is they sold the dealership for 58 million and I know how these people treated there business.Because my wife worked for hulings for 4yrs and they fired here for nothing and Tom never came to thrifty rental much.He was always out golfing and flying to his house in palm springs. Both Steve and Tom never was a leader at there business’s.

Yeah, I worked for the Huling Brothers for four and a half years. I was their top performing sales agent in the rental car department (Thrifty Car Rental). My co-workers teased me for years about a medical condition that I have. I brought it to my bosses attention several times and nothing was ever done about it. Those tyrants. Well to make a long story short, they fired me for asserting my right not to be teased about a medical condition after it had been going on for several years resulting in humiliation. They fired me out of retaliation. They hire tyrants and promote them.

I had to take Huling Bros to small claims to honor their service contract. They have the most corrupt service dept. I’ve ever dealt with. I only won in small claims because I’ve worked as a mechanic, I brought in the Chrysler Service Manual, and was able to prove that they didn’t follow the correct procedure. Also Joe Santo ( service manager ) made an obvious lie which the judge didn’t seem real impressed about. Problem is my claim was for $600, the cost of the repair, and I was only awarded the labor, which was about half of that, yet the entire job was unnecessary, and I had receipts from another shop which fixed the problem.
BTW, my I have 2 neighbors that got ripped off by Huling on the purchase of new cars, although one of them got to return her car for a refund.

The old owners were truly slime. Pure amazing.

Nothing new with the new name…I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler. The subwoofer was pointed out as a feature. You can see the speaker in it’s housing. Once I figured out it didn’t actually work, Gee says it doesn’t come with a subwoofer. They say I got a “free” subwoofer that will work if I buy a new amplifier. This is only a $300-500 problem (they didn’t even quote it when requested). Steer Clear! The name is changed to protect the guilty!

Sorry, comment time is over.
