Please use this thread to discuss a time and place for forum members to meet up. We’ll be informally discussing topics of local interest.

As far as place – we just want to be in West Seattle. I think a coffee shop might be the way to go? The Starbucks at Morgan Junction (corner of California and Fauntleroy) might work. It is open every day until 8:30. There is usually enough open space in the evening. If anyone has another idea for a place please post your thoughts. Whatever place we choose, we should plan on ordering a drink or snack to support the business.

As far as date and time here are a couple ideas. What works best for most people?

    Wed Aug 26 @7pm

    Fri Aug 28 @7pm

    Wed Sep 2 @7pm

    Fri Sep 4 @7pm

Let me know your thoughts and thank you for your interest.

Any of those 4 dates would work for me. I’m also flexible as to location. I live in Alaska Junction but can easily drive or take the bus.

I’ll be hoping that whatever date works for folks, that I’m in town as I will certainly show up. :-)

The Uptown Espresso at the south end of the Alaska junction (Edmunds?) is also a fine, centrally located option on the bus line.

August dates work for me, or later in September (any time after the 7th).

Fridays tend to involve more schedule conflicts than other weeknights for a lot of people.

Second week of September or later would be better for me.

Also, in the evening I avoid caffeine and lean toward hoppier and grapier refreshments. ;>)

Of course, we could have more than one gathering: for those who find August fine, and for those who prefer September. :)

Jan, if I’m going, I’d be happy to pick you up.

I personally don’t like gathering at C&P because you need to avoid times with live music, and it’s often hard to find seating for a group there in the times I’ve tried to do that. We met there for one WSB gathering a long time ago, and didn’t realize music was happening. Feels rude to talk over the music as if it’s not going on.

Funny how somebody said Fridays can involve more schedule conflicts for some; that’s the day of the week it’s easiest for me to be free. :) For me, Tuesdays would be out for August and September.

thanks for organizing this; agree with Sue; Fridays are better for me; I’m so involved in community events, and election stuff (especially gearing up to get Lisa Herbold elected as our D-1 City Councilmember); most/all community meetings are on week nights

JanS; you totally crack me up “I need a social life ;-)”

    ~

I would not be comfortable at Bev Place; way too many dogs; and I don’t drink alcohol; but it’s mostly the dogs

    ~

the new Starbucks is open til 10, which I love; and while the weather is nice; they are creating a lovely patio with tables out on the corner; also super fun for people watching

    ~

I think it’s pretty easy to check in with C&P Coffee to see if they have music or other entertainment that evening

    ~

what are the hours for Admiral Bird? I haven’t been there yet, but I’ve seen notices for some groups meeting there in the evening

    ~

both Uptown coffee places stay open later, and bigger; more likely to get a table

    ~

Fri Aug 28 @7pm is same night as The Mount concert 6-7:30 (if it doesn’t get cancelled like the last 2 concerts)

    ~

Wed Sep 2 @7pm is same time as SW District Council at the WS Senior Center (everyone welcome)

    ~

Fri Sep 4 @7pm is potential for me; start of holiday weekend, so nothing gets scheduled

Thanks for all the responses. Sounds like our meet will be in September. Keep the feedback coming and we’ll try to firm up a plan next week.

As for location – I think we want to lean toward a place that isn’t too busy. I love places like Beer Junction but if we have 5 or 6 or more people showing up there is little chance we’ll be able to sit together and chat. We need a place that has open space most evenings.

Hmmmm as long as I can get a cold beer I’m in….or coffee…If you tell the place that we will be coming and they have no sports or special function going on… most will set aside a spot for us all skeeter……. just not this place lol…….

If you contact Admiral Bird I think they would accommodate your schedule. They are pretty good about staying open for the community or holding private events.

Skeeter, if we’re looking at September now, are there other dates than the 2 discussed above? I’m free those dates, but September’s calendar is filling fast for me. Would love to get a date on the calendar.

Okay how about this – Wednesday September 16 at 7pm.

I picked that date because most people seemed to indicate mid/later in September would be better.

As far as location I’m at a bit of a loss because I’ve never been to several of the places mentioned. Wake is thinking Uptown Espresso. They have good hours and the location is fine too. Shall we shoot for that? If anyone thinks Uptown Espresso would *not* be a good location for some reason please respond to this thread.

So tentative date/time/location is September 16 (Wednesday) at 7pm at Uptown Espresso. 4301 SW Edmunds St(California & Edmunds)

Please let me know if any concerns.

If you think you’ll be able to make it please respond to this thread that way we’ll have some idea of what size group we are.

Thank you all for your interest!

Sept. 16 is good for me, as are all evenings that week except Thursday evening. If it’s difficult for lots of others, Tuesday evening is even better :D Uptown is fine with me…lots of room there…

9/16 is busy; candidate forum and neighborhood meeting; so won’t work for me; re locations & times; I was at new Starbucks tonight and asked about when new evening hours will start; “Septemberish”
