Nope, I never had a problem. I paid rent on time, never complained and kept a clean apartment. Landlord’s thought I was the cat’s meow- there are some crappy tenants out there (my husband owns a rental property so I know) that do much worse things than bring a well-behaved, litter box using cat into an apartment… Now, if I had a boy cat that sprayed, well, let’s just say that cat would not be moving anywhere with me if it had those problems. I would not want to live with that stink, much less ruin someone else’s property with it.

“m” – “the cat’s meow…” LOL. Actually, I’m not “supposed” to have cats now, but I got adopted by one a number of years ago and the landlord just sort of got used to the idea since there weren’t any problems with it. Which led me to getting a new kitten a few months ago…ahem. (Just for the record, no problems with that little fuzzball either.) :-)

You are the cats meow M…but I’d kick you to the curb if you broke that part of the lease, then I’d keep your security deposit to buy a dog!

Great news! A friend told me about a lovely little rental house in the Lincoln Park area and I’ll be moving at the end of the month! Thanks to all of you who kept your eyes and ears open and sent me leads – I truly appreciate it.

so glad to hear that…I know it’s taken a while. Just remember to have a good talk with your cat to keep an eye out for the Lincoln Park coyotes…hehe.

Happy moving ! (by the way, need any boxes?)

I’ll be just up the hill and my dogs will be glad to exercise your cats any time you feel they are getting too lazy:)

seriously.. congrats on the house. as a pet owner and renter.. i am always glad when one of us finds a landlord who realizes that animals can be much less destructive than.. children… teenagers…etc…

    good luck with your move.

Thanks JanS and JoB – I realize I am really lucky to find a landlord who apparently likes animals much more than people!! :-) And YES Jan, I do need boxes!! If you (or anyone) has any you’d like to offload, I’ll happily come get them from you.

GenHillOne – as a parent I should take offense but I can testify to the destructiveness of children!

(OK, don’t get your panties in a bunch – it’s lighthearted teasing!)

Erik – for the most part, I’ve enjoyed my Alki neighbors, though we do have some eyebrow-raisers, don’t we? Glad I got to meet you and Larry!

having had children, teenagers and dogs, i have to say my kids were more destructive on houses than the dogs…

that said, the most destructive were these idiots one of my friends brought back from a bar at 3 AM…

that. of course was in my misspent youth:)
