Noticed while out and about: Signs announcing an “RV remediation” for SW Barton Place uphill from (east of) Westwood Village. The no-parking signs are for Thursday through Saturday (September 3-5), on both sides of the street; as of Monday afternoon, a few RVs were parked on the westbound side (the sign we photographed was on the eastbound side).
That’s been a bad stretch for so long. I take the Barton/Henderson steps to the gym at Westwood. One day an individual came up from behind me from nowhere and asked me if I had any change. I quickly distanced myself and said “I don’t have anything on me. Im going to the gym.” It was a bit unsettling.
If there is a blog reader who knows the answer to what happens to the illegal campers and their possessions, it would be nice to know.Do they get released to next of kin, drug rehab, mental institutions?Do their RV’s get impounded and sold to cover their fines and cost of cleaning their messes?Do they just move to a different neighborhood and the city has accomplished nothing at al great expense to taxpayers?
No the most sickening is the human waste spewing from under these RV’s the drug use & stolen goods outdoor market. The city needs multiple dedicated RV lots with sanitary facilities for folks to use-but that might come with rules-like no drug use-no dealing in stolen goods.
No RVs sitting there but as of 9:30 am there was a boat on the sidewalk! 😂🤣
These same RV’s were cleared from this location earlier this year. They were running an open-air drug market, using and selling in full view. They should be in jail, not allowed to return to illegal street camping and selling drugs very near to at least two schools.
Money well spent when compared to the damage done to the victim neighborhoods. Keep ’em moving until they decide it’s best to move on permanently to greener pastures.
I propose a penalty of 8 hrs community service for every day/night of illegal camping.
