I’ve got a b’day coming up, and for my b’days I like to put together a playlist of songs that have been MY songs throughout my life. Those songs that are always transferred onto the latest music-playing device, always turned up when they come on the radio, and always make me stop what I’m doing and listen. And I’m always listening for new songs to become MY songs. I’m sharing a short list of MY songs, and I’d love for some of you to share YOUR songs too, and maybe through these lists, we’ll all find some new songs to sing to us.

    Some of MY songs:

    -“Imagine”—John Lennon

    -“Strawberry Letter 23”—Brothers Johnson

    -“Band on the Run”—Wings

    -“Shuffle”—Bombay Bicycle Club

    -“Symphony No. 6, Pastoral”—Beethoven

    -“Mirror in the Bathroom”—English Beat

    -“True Faith”—New Order

    -“Doused”—DIIV

    -“Wonderwall”—Oasis

-“Free to be You and Me”—Marlo Thomas and Friends

    And you?

You wouldn’t like my music. It’s too good for radio and plus you need a long attention span.

having been exposed to over 60 years in the evolution of music ..

i still find myself singing in the car to the songs of my youth..

rock and roll and i have matured well together :)

when i choose music to listen to it is more likely to be either classical or the blues…

but a well played base guitar can still stir visions of sugar plums..

and even bad honkey tonk piano gets my toes tapping..

but.. you wanted specifcs didn’t you?

for that.. the wrong half of this couple posts here

“Only Love Can Break Your Heart” by Neil Young

That one has been on heavy rotation lately. I am about to have a baby in a few weeks, and I’m diving into music that will hopefully keep me zen during labor and the hectic first weeks of baby’s life. And songs that remind me of my own parents, so a lot of Neil Young. :)

    1. Can any of you listen to this and not get tingly good feeling goosebumps?

Note: Promoters took a huge risk to produce this in a largely racist America used to sappy musicals…the lore is that after this first song the audience sat stunned for almost two minutes then stood and clapped…sob.

    Following are moments I experienced:

    2. When Janis Joplin came on stage at the old Seattle ice arena and belted out “Cryyyyyyy Baaaaaby…then Sumertime

    3. When the Who performed the entire rock opera Tommy at the Colesium

    3. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p4MZJsexEs – yep in London {Also We will rock you and We are the Champions.]

    4. Queen – God Save the Queen ~ yes sappy end of concert at Wembly; but look at Freddy alive …I wish he could have saved Freddy.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySGis2v_vvo

    5. Crosby, Still, Nash and Young at Seattle Colesium shortly after Kent State; the first part was acoustical. After a break they came back with the first playing of “Ohio” Four Dead in Oh-Hi O…Blew my mind…

Jan, “Higher and Higher” was the signature song of my ex-husband’s band. They also recorded “Respect” about a year before Aretha Franklin.

JanS The 45 I have came out in ’65’ or ’66’ I paid 79 cents ($0.79) for it. My first LP was ‘Free Wheelin’- Bob Dylan. When I sold it for $40 it still had the $1.97 price tag from a Pay-n-Save drug store.
