Just wondering if anyone knows what is going on with TdM? They still have a Taco del Mar website, and no mention of a name change. The staff says everything is the same… curious????

Are you referring to the Jefferson Square location? I assumed that what happened is that the location was underperforming and the franchise was terminated, and the employees are keeping the business open under a new name. The TdM website doesn’t show the Jeff Square location anymore.

We mentioned this months ago. TDM told us those two locations had a new owner. This was long before the Baja Taco signs went up. At one point I found them both listed on a map under the name Baja Burrito.

oh, ok. somehow I only notice things when I haven’t been there in a while.

I was at Bellevue Square tonight, before reading this, and asked them about it… and they said they would be a “baja taco” soon…?

anyway, I hope the local ones maintain TdMs menu, or most of it! I love fish tacos!

I love fish tacos too but these places use frozen fish sticks that have been sitting around in the steam table for who knows how long. Pecado Bueno in the junction has great fish tacos made with real fresh fish. Sure they are probably more expensive, but not a lot higher and I think on Tuesdays they have buy one get one free.

Interesting, especially since Pecado Bueno is owned/founded by the co-founder of Taco Del Mar! :)

I think there are lots of examples of restaurant owners who develop different types of restaurants some more casual than others. Look at Tom Douglas he has many restaurants all over Seattle each with their own style of food. Why not TDM and Pecado Bueno? BTW I am a fan of both. Not interested in most of the others Mexican offerings in the junction so I was bummed to see the Jefferson Square place change. I haven’t been in since.

So Baja Taco is the same? The TDM when it was there never tasted quite right compared to other franchise locations. Interesting that it’s the same owners as Pecado Bueno too. Never was a big fan of their food. They have good drinks though.

@Wes: It’s not exactly the same, but it’s darn close. Same people in the individual restaurants, which is great. My kids love that place, I prefer El Tiburon in White Center and the kids are coming around.
