As a challenge from an under-employed female colleague, I am taking a survey of interest for the following:

Body Image and Weight Management Group

Meeting once a week in the Alaska Junction area (Women only)

    – an adjunct, and not a replacement, for nutrition therapy

    – an adjunct, and not a replacement, for programs such as Weight Watchers

    – you need a computer to access emails

    – you have an interest in movement therapy (dance and/or yoga)

    – you are NOT struggling with Anorexia Nervosa or have a BMI of 17 or less.

    – you are willing to share what you know about self-care with others, so we create a co-teaching environment where you are not only the participant but the practitioner as well.

    – you are open to integrative mind-body practices, including Yoga and Meditation.

There is no established fee for this group. I may choose to run it on a drop in basis, suggested donation (by your ability to pay) or barter for services in order to meet the needs of other unemployed and unemployed women due to the economy. I’m also looking at a model to replicate in other cities.

The idea is not just to have a place to “work out” that you go to — you have gyms for that. It is to create a space for healing and nourishing body and soul to its best state of health, and to have excellent follow up provided by myself to help you reach your health goals.

I am a nurse psychotherapist, 200 hour Kripalu Yoga instructor, and professional bellydancer with a passion for affordable health care. I am fully licensed and have a business license to practice in the city of Seattle.
