I want to encourage anyone who has been a victim of theft to look for your property at the Pawn Pros shops at 10207 16th Ave SW and the location at 2301 S Jackson. I have found several of my stolen items there. If you do find your property, I suggest you put it on lay-a-way and then contact the police. When the police release the property to you, your lay-a-way deposit will be refunded.
Congratulations on the lawnmower recovery, and yes, per RCW 19.60.020 and King County code 6.56.080 pawn shops are required to take extensive info on the person pawning. This may not be the person who stole it, but it can lead to a charge of trafficking stolen property.
I heard that King County Sheriffs Dept does not check property to determine if it is stolen. I learned this after buying a computer that came from them that turned out to be stolen and had been reported stolen the entire time! It wasn’t until I brought it in for service that I learned I had a problem. How can businesses like this even be allowed to operate?
