JeannieParticipantGood choices – I love Zippy’s – but you’ve gotta wonder: Where would these glossy “lifestyle” magazines be without their ever-present lists? Or their ads for cosmetic dental procedures, facelifts, breast enhancement, and other “necessities,” for that matter? Well, at least they don’t use the f- word in every article, like our friends at The Stranger.

Apparently magazine formatting requires a lot of numbers: 5 Tips for a Happier Marriage, 27 Ways to Avoid Watching “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” 564 Ways to Cut Your Credit Card Into Tiny Pieces, 36 Non-Edible Birthday Cake Decorations, 16 Reasons Rachael Ray Was Better Before She Went All Hollywood …
Only been to Zippy’s once but it did rock. By the way, speaking of food, about to link this to the home page – White Center Now breaks the news, new pizza parlor going in across from Full Tilt.

JustSarahParticipantpbgirl423: parking at Zippy’s is a breeze! There’s a huge amount of street parking around it. They encourage people to not park in their lot. and I don’t see a reason why one would need to (with the exception of the disabled, of course.) It actually bugs me when I’m there, after parking a block away out of courtesy, and I see someone pull into the lot to come in and eat their burger… I understand parking there to pick up a to-go order, but if you’ll be there eating it wouldn’t kill you to park 50 feet down the street.
Also: yummmmm to Zippy’s…

SueParticipantJeffro, I’ve been in Jaks with shorts and tie-dye and have never felt unwelcome there – but I’ll admit I assumed the same thing about them until I went in. :)

carrieannMemberSue, I’ve been curious about White Castle’s burgers, too (esp after many a viewing of Harold & Kumar. One of those mindless flicks I always feel compelled to watch.) since I’ve only had the little frozen ones you can buy at the grocery store.
What are people’s thoughts on Lunchbox Laboratory (www.lunchboxlaboratory.com)? I’ve shared a few of their burgers and was pretty impressed by the quality and creativity of their flavor combinations. They may cost a bit more than your average burger, but they’re generously portioned and well-executed.

SueParticipantCarrieann, I’ve also watched way too much Harold & Kumar. :) the White Castles in the frozen section just get a little too soggy, but they’re not bad. The whole experience of White Castle though is getting them handed to you in these little individual serving boxes at the store. There’s something about getting those steamed burgers in a little box that makes it. :) They’re open 24 hours (at least in NYC) and it was THE place to go as a teen in the middle of the night and see how many you could eat. I don’t know what they cost now, but they used to cost us 29 cents each, and I think at one time I could eat like 30 of them (don’t do that – LOL!)
My sister-in-law was visiting NYC and wanted to bring them along for the drive back to her new home in Wisconsin. She and her husband bought like 100 of them and had them in the car for 2 days, and she said the smell was overwhelming. I wonder if she ever got the stench of White Castle out of her car!

yesterday after Alki sun I was at Admiral Safeway magazine section/cooling off next to freezers; a guy came looking for Seattle Mag to get burgers list; I told him about Zippys on list that I saw on westseattleblog, but could not tell him where it is??? all I know is down near Delridge/White Center somewhere??? we also couldn’t find Seattle Mag on shelf

I love when people rave/make recommendations here; locations would be oh so helpful, not just assume all readers know where these places are

something we can agree on.. though Zippy’s hasn’t been a secret since the first WSB forum post.. it’s crowded even at off times :(
good thing they are well worth waiting for.
