Fear not my burger loving friends. Jak’s is #2 on the list after Zippy’s.

Skillet came in at #7. I think if they would lightly grill their buns they could score higher. The texture of that bun is totally holding them back.

    The list:

    1. Zippy’s

    2. Jak’s Grill

    3. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers

    4. Stumbling Goat Bistro

    5. 22 Doors

    6. Burgermaster

    7. Skillet

    8. Voila! Bistrot

    9. Two Bells

    10. Spring Hill

    11. Red Mill Burgers

    12. Café Campagne

    13. Palace Kitchen

I love burgers and Jak’s is truly my favorite. My dad always rolls his eyes when we go there and I order it “What a waste! Look at their amazing menu!” – lol. Can’t help what you love.

Props to Zippy’s! A cruel place, within walking distance.

Horray for Zippy’s ! that is good for them-making the neighborhood proud. I’m surprised EBB didn’t make the list (within the top 13 that I see here). Delux’s (on Cap. hill) burgers were always hard to resist too- when living right down the block.

I need to get back to Zippy’s- haven’t been in while. The last time I was there, the outer 1″ circumference of my burger was black and crunchy. must have been a fluke.

Jak’s has an amazing burger. I’ve had it several times, and have had Zippy’s several times and enjoyed it as well. In my opinion, Jak’s should rate way higher than Zippy’s though.

Seattle Metropolitan sorta dissed the Zippy’s hood. They wrote: “Even West Seattleites gripe about the obscure Highland Park location of their favorite burger joint, but we think there’s nothing better than coming upon a perfect pile of beef and bun in the middle of nowhere.” Ouch.

right now Highland Park is in the middle of nowhere… but i have to agree with Seattle Metropolitan.. that is part of it’s charm.

now if they would only discover White Center;->

I’m having trouble equating “middle of nowhere” with “inside Seattle city limits”.

To me, “middle of nowhere” means a distinct lack of other people around…

cjb, that list doesn’t appear to be ranked, or am I mistaken? (not that it matters)

Red Mill couples a great burger with the best milkshake in Seattle. There’s something to be said for Dick’s too. Zippy’s I finally got to try and it was pretty good. I eat way too many Elliott Bay burgers. I’d try Jak’s but I can’t get past the tinted windows and the feeling that my jeans/t-shirt aren’t good enough for that place.

Jeffro…Jak’s doesn’t care about your jeans and T-shirt…this is West Seattle. Go try a burger :)

Jeffro – go to Jak’s during happy hour, $5 burger with the purchase of a HH beverage (I believe that’s correct).

I wonder why Endolyne Joe’s isn’t on the list – they make a tasty burger!

Jeffro: You might be right. I saw the numbers and assumed it was a ranking. Otherwise, why would they number them? If they meant to suggest that all of the burgers were the best, but in no particular order, they could have just run each profile without a big number beside it.

Jeffro, JaK’s is so NOT uppity. Please do yourself a favor and get their burger. It’s still MY favorite of the list. Very happy to see local haunts represented (Zippy’s = Yummy Charbroil, Skillet = Yummy Change of Pace, Red Mill = Yummy Classic). I’ve yet to venture into Spring Hill, but will have to check it out now. I’ve not had Joe’s for a couple years now. It just wasn’t up to the same par during our last several visits there. But their burger was, for me, the best meal on the menu.

    datamuse…

i simply meant that zippy’s highland park location is not in the middle of any developed business district.

i suspect that will change as there is certainly a need for services in that area…

i like to think of them as groundbreaking in a most interesting neighborhood… one of those we will be exploring when we are ready to buy…

Zippy’s location isn’t the easiest to get to but the worst part is the parking! Great food, horrible parking. They could use a drive through. Maybe with all of this attention they’ll get another W Seattle location with a bigger parking lot (fingers crossed!).

There’s been a need since I moved there, but it never quite seems to work out. I think people mostly drive over to Westwood or down to White Center.

I’ve got to give them props for setting up there, as it means there’s finally something walking distance from my house that isn’t a convenience store.

Anyway, my snark at the “middle of nowhere” language was mostly at Seattle Met’s use of the phrase, but thattaway lies off-topic ranting so I’ll leave it at that. :)
