datamuseParticipantYa know, I kind of hate to bring this perennial topic up yet AGAIN, but…while running in the woods at Westcrest Park this evening I encountered a dog, off-leash, whose owner was off taking photographs or something (at least, I think I saw a camera). The dog growled at me more than once and did not respond to his owner the first three or four times she called him by name.
This is the second time this summer I’ve encountered a potentially aggressive dog OUTSIDE the off-leash area at Westcrest, and yes I have reported it. I see complaints in this forum all the time about illicit activities that go on in that park, and sure, I’ve sometimes come across evidence of them, but today marks the FIRST time I have ever felt unsafe in that park in the ten years I have lived in West Seattle.
I’ve been pretty much live and let live about dogs being off leash in that park, because most of them have been well behaved. I don’t like to completely revise my thinking based on one incident, but this encounter is making me consider it.

grrParticipantI’m starting to feel very unsafe at my favorite dining establishment. What the hell is up with parents who let their 5 year old run rampant in a resturaunt?? It was all I could do to NOT slip my foot out into the aisle.
It was bad enough when his older brother chased him, and he bumped into our table, spilling a bunch of water all over (luckily the wine hadn’t arrived). Stupid kid didn’t say ‘sorry’ or anything…I just glared at him with the Death Ray Eye Stare, and he got the point, and scurried away.
mummy and daddy were OBLIVIOUS. Argh.
and I don’t like Westcrest any more either. Why the hell can’t we have a SMALL, fenced offleash area at Lincoln Park?!?!?!
