trensuelaMemberI so love our little neck of Seattle, all the chickens and goats around the hood make me smile.
I was out walking my dog on leash last night and she saw chickens in two locations and smiled both times.
I just saw for my first time the goat of Alki. That made me smile.
Smiles for all may love transcend these wires and warm hearts and make people cluck like chickens or have strong desires to eat everything in site as goats do.

AnonymousInactiveSmiling is good for YOU, T! Imagine that!

trensuelaMemberIndeed smiling is good. Chickens, however, cannot smile, nor can goats.
Chickens cluck regardless of the mood an goats do the same. Please reference this article on the goat bit: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/40091

AnonymousInactiveThank you for the article T – very informative!
Before your post, I didn’t realize neither chickens nor goats could smile like we’re doing right now.
I’m smiling and I’m not ashamed of it.
Thanks for making me smile. I like you.

AnonymousInactiveHey NR! Nice to have you back.
Your smile brightens this already extremely bright day and makes me smile too!
Thanks for liking me back. It is always good to have someone like you, especially on the Internet.
I’m proud of YOU for smiling.

NewResident2MemberThanks for the welcome back, Luigi! It was a little twilight zone there for awhile. Nice to have it all straightened out.
P.S. I have ALWAYS loved the Alki goats!
April 7, 2009 at 10:07 pm #663755
TraciMemberI love the Alki goats and that whole entire house! Every time I bike by it I stop and just kind of stare in awe at how awesome those people MUST be!!!

AnonymousInactiveI got so caught up in smiling that I lost the true underlying message here. Where can I see these Alki goats and the people that live with them?
Are these people rednecks of sort?
April 7, 2009 at 11:07 pm #663757
TraciMemberDefinitely not rednecks, from my observations I might say well-off folks that have eclectic (but NOT tacky) taste and a shocking amount of land that they actually use on Alki, hence the goats and their elaborate trail system :) Look for the wood shingled house that has red neon lips in a window about halfway between Salty’s and Pioneer. That is where the goats live.
Anyway I hope talking about them doesn’t count as invasion of privacy. I wonder if they know how many people love their home?

AnonymousInactiveRedneck isn’t a derogatory term; I consider myself one and several WSBlogforumfolk have some degree of redneckery in their lives:

Very cool! Having goats is like having living breathing biosustainable green renewable lawnmowers.

TraciMemberI’m got a pretty fair amount of Southern pride in me, Luigi… I associate “Redneck” with good food and fun people!

miwsParticipantThanks for the Onion link, trensuela!
I clicked on it, a couple of hours or so ago and immediately minimized it, and continued to surf the WSB Forums for a bit.
Left the ‘puter for awhile, came back, and was surfing the KOMO News site for awhile. Found the Onion link again, brought it up, and my eyes immediately hit the banner ad at the top of the page, with an ad for T-shirts, one says: “Are Your Cats Old Enough To Learn About Jesus?” The second one says something else, and the third says: “Owls Are A**holes!”
In a brief moment of spacing out, I thought I was still on the KOMO site, and was stunned they’d be advertising such products! =:-O

trensuelaMemberHi miws,
The funniest thing about said banners is that owls can be major a-holes. I number of years ago they were attacking randon people in Discovery Park
April 8, 2009 at 12:05 am #663762
miwsParticipantWell, it’s no surprise that those Magnolia owls would be so uppity, compared to our more easy going, down to earth West Seattle owls at Lincoln Park! ;-)
