SemMemberI just spent 15 minutes on Shannon Braddock’s commissioned phone “survey” that was a puff piece for her. While I’m fine spending time on public surveys, I felt trapped into listening to Shannon’s campaign talking points. I could have hung up, but chose to finish since the interviewer was just trying to do her job. Ironically a criticism of Lisa was in regard to taking money from interest groups, but who paid for the survey??

JTBParticipantSounds like a push poll, one of the more cynical ploys in campaigning in that it wraps manipulation in the guise of gathering opinions.

wakefloodParticipantHate push polls. Hate ’em. And I suspect/hope that Braddock comes out and publicly disavows herself of it, even though it’s probably the same gang that contributed to her PAC, which she legally can’t have any contact with. She can still publicly say she’s not responsible for it – if she isn’t – and that she doesn’t approve of it.

rwParticipantI’d be extremely surprised if the Braddock campaign had anything to do with it. The sort of tactic has more potential for doing damage than good.
As for myself, I don’t care for polls or surveys and don’t even stay on the phone long enough to find out whether it’s for or against, political or nonpolitical. And if the poll or survey is by phone, I think it usually lasts less than ten seconds before I hang up. That Sem stayed on the phone 15 minutes seems like a lifetime, in my book.
And as someone pointed out elsewhere, supporters on both sides of the District 1 race have said negative things, so I don’t think there is a halo to be awarded. To their credit, both Herbold and Braddock have stayed positive and constructive.

JTBParticipantI tend to answer polls if I’m interested in the subject matter. It’s interesting how many of them are now entirely automated.
Last week, I responded to a poll on I-122 which was one of the more interesting attempts to gauge what issues were at play with voters. It asked if I was inclined to vote for or against and to what degree that was so. Then it presented several arguments against it and asked if hearing that changed my opinion to any extent. Then it present arguments in favor and asked if that changed my view. Seemed like the supportive and opposing views were an honest reflection of the key issues.

rwParticipantShannon Braddock posted the following on Facebook, so I’ll share it here as well:
“This poll is not from my campaign and itβs a good example of why I support I-735 and I-122 to bring the transparency to our elections that the Supreme Court has blocked. I look forward to continuing my campaign focusing on the issues that matter to District 1 residents.”
