Today I took my 93 year young mother and her best friends out to celebrate their friendships and to say farewell to one of them as they move on to their next chapter of life in Oregon. After the six of them sat down to order and catch up, our waitress informed us that a couple was paying for our entire meal. We never learned who they were but we were told that my mother and her senior friends reminded them of their parents. For the couple that paid for our meal today, thank you. I cannot tell you the joy and admiration that was expressed at our table for your random act of kindness. As many know, COVID times have really been very hard on the seniors and the assisted living communities and this was only the second time that my mom and her friends have gathered for a meal together out in public since we all have been able to get out. You made their day and I promise to pay it forward as my time with my mother is precious and limited and I too will be reminded of her in the future.
