mgMemberI have some pigeons who have taken a liking to my house. They are roosting on some beams and pooping non-stop. Does anyone have any recommendations for pigeon removal/prevention? I don’t want to do it myself, but am looking for a good recommendation for a reputable company. Also, I don’t want to hurt the birds, just don’t want them on my house.
thanks!

B-squaredParticipantBuy a plastic owl – that is what they are for. Hey, they even have big vultures at Archie McPhee’s.

squareeyesParticipantI have a large raven (fm Archie McPhee’s) that I’d be happy to offload, er, contribute to the effort. I sewed him to a dress as part of a “The Birds” Halloween costume a few years ago but don’t want to just throw him away.

JillParticipantOh do I feel yer pain. (Note to pigeonmom: avert your gaze, this bad talk could be about your relatives! :) You can get bird spikes at Junction Hardware and attach em to the beams. Just make sure every inch is covered! They can perch on a very small space if they’re used to your house. Also for a coupla days be diligent about chasing them away if they’re near.

pigeonmomParticipantI know my pals like to poop & roost in inappropriate places. **sorry** ;-)

JeffSavoieMemberNo pigeons were harmed, while solving this problem.
MG,
Thanks for the call, and your patronage.
David,
Thanks again, for the referral.
B-squared,
I wish I knew how to post photos, one of my favorites on this subject is a plastic owl decoy, with a pigeon perched on it’s head. ;)
That’s not a solution a true professional would sell, or stand behind with a guarantee.
Jill,
You sure know your stuff!
D’you need a job? :D
You’re right, the key to any “exclusion” work is to make whatever was attractive (structurally), less so. And then to follow that up with a program of active deterrents (noise, motion, etc.).
