    Ok.. here’s the bottom line.

Nickelsville needs your help to literally keep their phone lines open, their phones charged, sanitary facilities open and to pay the garbage bill and keep the dumpsters emptied.

The West Seattle Church of the Nazerene generously donated their kitchens for a pancake breakfast fundraiser this saturday from 8 AM to 11 AM.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match every dollar raised up to $500.

    all we need is you.

This is your chance to meet some of the residents, grab some great pancakes and double your donation to Nickelsville.

Sounds GOOD to me! Are they going to have bacon and eggs also? No problem either way as I can always have the bacon and eggs earlier :) The pancakes can always be for desert! :) It ALL goes to a very good cause!

    .

    And… that is what counts!

I see from the comments section on the W.S.Blog Home Page that another donor has also agreed to match all money raised up to $500.00.

For those who cannot attend the Nickelsville Pancake Breakfast fundraiser this Saturday yet want to make a (tax deductible?) donation via a check, how should the check be made payable to and what mailing address should the check be sent to?

i just now caught the front page comment. there really is second offer to match the first $500.

i am pretty sure that everyone at camp was too busy today to notice the comment.. i was in camp at about 5 and didn’t hear about it then..

but i am pretty sure they are going to be ecstatic when they find out.

    your donation will triple tomorrow..

and you get pretty good pancakes too.

making sure nickelsville has garbage removal, honey buckets and the means to stay in contact with the outside world really is a good cause…

no matter how you might feel about the name.

Had a great time at the Pancake Breakfast!

Got to eat some tasty pancakes, and hang with some of my Nickelsville friends, WSB’er and friends/Donors/Supporters!

Had the extreme honor and pleasure of meeting HMC Rich for the first time face to face, after wishing to for several years now.

Have always known he’s a nice guy, not only from his mostly respectful to other commenters postings here on the Forums, but, also because others that had already met him face to face, have mentioned how nice he is.

However, what struck me is how truly engaging and cordial Rick is. I frankly pictured him as more of and old head banger, quite possibly still sporting the long hair, and perhaps having a macho air about him.

So, yeah, nice surprise and pleasure to finally meet Rich, and his Son, who I can tell is well doted upon by Dad! :-)

Anybody within line of sight of this comment able to post the direct URL for the Nickelsville Facebook page? I can’t find it. FB is so ridiculously unsearchable. I’ve found two and neither seems to be it. Thanks – TR

sbre, I must have seen you there, but we didn’t realize who each other was!

I’ve thought for years, that when we WSB’ers are at public gatherings, we should have signs sticking out of our heads that read I READ WSB!!, and have our Handle on them as well, if we so wish!

It wass nice to see you ,Mike, you’re lookin’ good, like everday person. It was nice to see and meet Nickeslville residents in another place and some bloggers in life form. I enjoyed it and my friends that came with me did too. Every body did a great job, I thought.

i think we had two informal WSB forum meet-ups at the pancake breakfast..

the early crowd and the late crowd :)

it was fun to see everyone. HMC Rich and his son came and we realized we hadn’t really seen one another for nearly 4 years.

we really should do this more often

Were enough funds raised to receive the two $500 matches? Additionally, are there any items that the CHILDREN in this camp need? I would like to donate.

    Jan & Mike,

I arrived around 10:30, sat at the table closest to the coffee urn (though did not partake) to eat my 5 pancakes then split about 10:50.

Blue jeans, green & grey Gatewood Elementary hooded-sweatshirt and black skull-cap (very dressed-to-impress!).

Guess that maked me part of the ‘late crowd’.

Sorry to have missed you guys as well.

    evergreen..

    yes the matches were made

and i posted the mom’s reply to what the young gentleman in camp needs in the woodstove thread..

but just in case anyone else is reading here too…

he needs a new very sturdy very large backpack for his books

and a pair of size 9 1/2 shoes.. lowtops .. not the kind with vinyl on top .. whatever that means

    and AA and C batteries…

I think the Cs power the lamp he uses to do his homework…
