hopeyParticipantAny recommendations in West Seattle (or nearby environs) to take a Yamaha motorcycle for service? Thanks in advance!

mpentoParticipantYou might check out http://www.southendmotorcycle.com/ They did some work for me that was OK. Only one job experience so far on my 92 kawasaki I think the last time someone asked here about motorcycle repair someone else commented that they were not that happy with some stuff southend did for them. I guess there are no guarentees these days but they got the job done for me and they seem to average out pretty good on reviews from google map. Good luck!

ToddinWestwoodMemberWhat model Yamaha is it and what year. I might be able to help. Ask around, I have had many many many Yamahas.
Also try Twinline down in rainier valley. they are ok too.
I has some issues with Southend doing a tire change for my ’72 Yamaha XS-2. They really gouged the rim and the hub on their tire machine. Plus it went flat a couple days later. They DID replace the tire tube for free. Still not happy about the hug and rim though.

AlParticipantWe take our older bikes and wheels/tires to Seattle Cycle Center up near Greenwood, worth the trip.
My husband takes his Yamaha to University Honda/Yamaha up on Capitol Hill on Pike St.
This is for stuff we can’t do ourselves. What your bike is/how old it is/what the problem is would help with identification! Good luck.

test517MemberUniversity Honda is gone sadly. I second Seattle Cycle Center, they have done good work for me in the past.

ToddinWestwoodMemberCycle Center is good. Jim at Southend used to wrench there.
Interesting side note, University Honda Yamaha was the first dealership in America to carry Honda in 1959.

CreightonMemberI know this isn’t nearby, but I take my Yamaha (FJR) to RMC, Renton Motorcycle Center. It’s standard bike shop rates, but their work is always darn near perfect. I used to go to University Honda/Yamaha as well and miss a good downtown shop like they had.

AlParticipantDang, that’s right! I forgot U Honda was gone – shows you how often we needed to go there…they were a good shop though. Think that the moto went on a trip to Renton last time…

hopeyParticipantThanks for all the feedback everyone. My husband’s got a RoadStar, I don’t remember what year it is.
@ToddinWestwood – my husband might want to chat with you about what he thinks the problem could be. If you could either post your contact info or contact me through my website (click on my user name above) that’d be great.
