I’ve long wondered about the waterfront mega-McMansion that squats on the point about a 10-minute walk south of the Fauntleroy Ferry dock. You can see it from Lincoln Park. It looks deserted. Does anyone know if it’s occupied? It’s sort of a Spanish-Colonial-style mishmash and very large. And, oh, if anyone reading this is the owner, apologies in advance. But still…is anybody home?

I’m not sure from the description if Laurentide (the former Colman estate) is what you are seeing.

Yep, agree with cyclemom. It’s probably a good thing that lights aren’t blazing in every room. I wouldn’t want that electric bill either!

Years ago I had the same question and was told the same info that Cyclemom and GenHillOne stated. It’s a pretty impressive building. Although it seems to be sitting out on a sandbar…

“Taste, common sense…” maybe, but apparently not good neighbors either!

In that linked article, it sounds like (for the most part) Merlino has cooperated, but he has some neighbors that have made complaining their full-time hobby.

It’s a good thing his neighbors keep an eye on things. There’s a lot of history in West Seattle with this man, not just his own home.

It does look like a setting for decadence, despair, and debauchery, Anonyme! And yes, Jiggers, it’s a blight for sore eyes. I guess Mr. Merlino had a little extra concrete left from a construction job. If he does indeed reside there, I hope he enjoys his view of the sound more than I enjoy my view of his mega-home.
