bsmommaParticipantSooooo Westcrest is all dug up and we have a little girls birthday party scheduled to be there on Sunday 7/22. It’s suposed to be 79deg on Sunday. Are there any little known parks out there in West Seattle that would be good for a birthday party? Not Lincoln Park or Alki……..I’m thinking of parking issues.
Sincerely,
Freaking out momma

BonnieParticipantOh darn! I love Westcrest. Hmmm…. what about E.C. Hughes? Is it too close to the street for you? I haven’t checked it out recently but a friend of mine went to Hicks Lake in White Center and liked it a lot.

bsmommaParticipantWhere is EC Hughes? We LOVE Westcrest! It was a perfect spot for a summer Birthday Party!

jissyParticipantmomma: not sure if you’re thinking of bringing in your own tables or not (Easy access to haul stuff in though at Dead End of 33rd & Dawson), but Fairmount park would be good, has 2 different play areas, a wide open field, basketball hoops and bathrooms! No picnic tables though.
I know EC Hughes has a BBQ or 2 (It’s on Holden & I think 28th Ave. SW) & bathrooms. Highland Park can also be good, we’ve picnic’d up there b/c it does have tables right by the play area.
There are also picnic tables avail. near the wading pool at Hiawatha and lots of shade nearby. You might want to check the wading pool schedules though if you do/don’t want that to factor in your plan.
Oh, and just thought about White Center/Steve Cox Park, they have a sheltered/picnic area just south of the play area although it is Jubilee days this weekend so the main field has the carnival going on.
Good Luck, it’ll be great no matter where you end up!

WednesdayMemberNot too far from Westcrest is Lakewood Park/Hicks Lake in White Center near SW 112th/10th SW (near Cascade MS & Evergreen HS). It’s a beautiful little park with some covered areas, picnic tables and lots of grassy area. Kids love to feed the geese there so bring some extra bread! I think there’s a play area too.

BonnieParticipantWednesday, my friend said there is a play area. I haven’t been since I was a kid. Will be checking it out again.

jissyParticipantOh yes, we’ve been going to Lakewood a lot… husband does the disk golf course while kids and I walk it with him to 5th hole then play at the play area while he finishes his round. Does have a nice covered shelter (may need to be reserved though) and bathrooms (a MUST in my book). Good call, Wednesday!

pamMemberGlad it worked out for you but for others Jack Block park is GREAT place, plenty of parking, green grass, rest room and view of the city.
