WorldCitizenParticipantNothing new to post here…just making sure the idea remains fresh in people’s minds.

dhgParticipantCan we go back to the monorail thingy without the bozos who didn’t know what they were doing running it? We had to vote it down at the end because it was going to cost $1M / ft. and it was just too expensive. Not crazy expensive like a tunnel, but expensive. I want to be elevated, not buried!

JayDeeParticipantLight rail and monorail are similar. But I thought light rail could only climb lower grades (hence the Beacon Hill tunnel which accommodated that). But light rail to West Seattle (unless it ran at grade after surmounting the West Seattle Bridge) would require condemnation of property unless it could run like a Monorail on an elevated track. As they say, the devil is in the details.

metrognomeParticipantone question: you live on California in a nice second floor condo; it’s a hot day, so the window is open … do you want a train going by your window every 15 minutes from 5am to midnight?
are you willing to have a four story park&ride garage built next door? (ok, I guess that’s two questions.)

JayDeeParticipantMetro: if I could avoid the joys of home ownership, sure (yard care, too much house, etc). I could walk to everything I would need at home. Most of these units would be 20-30 year olds who don’t need a yard. Plus the Hole could be eminent-domained as a parking garage if need be.
